Trade targets?

Last year was very active, both the day of and the days leading up to it. Verlander speculation was happening all morning long. Lots of E-Rod and Cease speculation as well.

It's been a big ole bag of nothing burgers today.

The days before were super busy last year and the last few hours were crazy. The morning was dead.

White Sox thoughts: Braves, Dodgers among teams that make sense for Crochet. Robert makes sense to keep with Mariners, Braves, Phillies others filling OF needs. Other vets who could be moved; Brebbia, DeJong, Lopez

OF is taken care of and if Lopez really is ok then the rotation is fine now to. A good MI utility like Brandon Lowe would really sure the team up for the stretch. Of course we will have to give rest to several SP so another SP wouldnt hurt either.

I’m surprised the Orioles arent in on Crochet. I just hope the Dodgers dont get him.

I wonder if the thought is to move Lopez back to the Pen/spot start if another starter is traded for. I think AA is done with the Quad A crap being used. AJSS and Waldrep just aren't ready or never will be.. Yona and Anderson probably won't be this year either.

They probably all need a break to be honest. SS and Sale should be handled carefully the rest of the season so another really good SP could be used.

Don't write off AJSS and Anderson yet. AJSS has yet to have a real shot in the rotation. Don't let his AAA stats deceive you he is working on development not trying to pop off big stats. I recall a little more than 2 months ago someone was concerned Schwellenbach wasn't striking out enough people in A ball. Now he is striking out more than 1 per inning in the majors. He probably doesn't see the rapid improvement pitching at AAA. He had to take some lumps and learn what works at the major league level.

WTF is up with all these deals going down for marginal MLB players? Cobb, Bell, Bauman, Leiter, Bell, Sims, Josh Walker. Not one of these guys is a lock to even finish the year with the team they are going to. Even Trevor Rogers is very mediocre.

I haven't written him off.. but if they are in fact 'working' on stuff', then he won't be much help as that 5th spot keeps coming around. It sounds like they don't like where he is at with his secondary offerings and thus shouldn't be a real consideration this year.

I also absolutely hate the thought process that 'don't look at his stats, he is working on stuff' excuse.. by that logic then anything Nacho or Baldwin or whoever does in AAA can't be looked at either because there is a good chance the opposing pitcher was 'working on some stuff'... either get guys out or show you have the arsenal to do so.

It was in AA and it was a valid concern. And I clearly said it was early and he was an exciting prospect. I said the only thing I’d like to see is his K-rate improved… which he did and I never doubted he could. But sure pat yourself on the back I guess?
