GDT 7/30/24: Braves @ Brewers - Deadline Day Game

I know we didn't exactly have anyone to bring up to light the world on fire, but if Merrifield can't play defense or hit and we didn't 10 day IL him, wtf were we doing?

It would be crazy if for 2 months he lit fire and we caught the Phallies with one of their castoffs

I think Merrifield will be in line up today by what I have seen.

I like State's thought of just IL'ing (back date) Lopez and bringing in another long reliever.. Hernandez or someone. Something caused the inflammation and there is no reason to rush him back imo.

I really don't understand why didn't trade for someone, anyone really, that can play both SS and 2b. They don't even have to hit particularly well.

I was clamoring for us to sign Nick Ahmed the last 3 weeks. There is no way he's worse of a hitter than Zack Short and we know he's a very good defender. Maybe he was waiting on a west coast team to sign him.

I really want us to sign Tim Anderson. I don't know why we haven't knocked on that door yet. He can't be worse than what we are running out there as bench players.

that would work too.. once you get past the Catcher, it doesn't really matter.. I would probably want to break the 3 righties up, but they are the 3 best hitters the team has, so I wouldn't complain about it.

Once Albies and Harris are back, i'm curious if Snit will revert to batting Albies second. He shouldn't. The top 3 are where they need to be in the lineup TBH

I would've tried to steal one more start for Elder. It would be against the Marlins, and now they're the AAA Marlins. It buys an extra day for Lopez and Fried.
