Race

What actually is your response to the countless scientific studies that have been done on learning about subconscious biases?

My response is that you are the individual that these seminars are created for. And you cannot be saved

(Let me know how much $$ you send her)

We actually ran this experiment at a former fortune 100 company. They were mad there weren't enough women in tech jobs. So they did a blind resume pilot.

The result ended in MORE men being hired. What did they do? Well they killed the pilot of course

I'm very glad to see the trend of companies dumping their ridiculous DEI departments. They are a money and time productivity suck that has been studied to add no value at all

I don't doubt this is true. But there are far more experiments showing bias in favor of white men. One comes from orchestra auditions where blind auditions worked against white men.

Hilarious, but there are actual studies that show we will gravitate toward our in-groups, even if those groups are completely fabricated by the researchers. Humans want to belong to a group, and will look for similarities in the people around them.

This doesn’t disprove anything. It can absolutely be true that there are more high-qualified candidates belonging to the majority group *and* that candidates of the minority group can be discriminated against due to biases in the hiring process.

You also seem to look at diversity much like some people on the left do, which is that diversity is pushed simply for the sake of diversity. In reality, diversity in society/government/the workplace leads to diversity of thought and experience that can strengthen the whole.

Then I would suspect black, Hispanic, woman owned businesses should be showing up as fortune 100 companies any day now

Diversity is pushed as a race and gender initiative. Absolutely

What was the stat... 84% of corporate jobs went to minority groups after the saint George Floyd riots?

I… agreed with you? I don’t think many that push DEI initiatives do so for the reasons I’ve stated above. I do think diversity is good beyond filling a quota. I don’t believe a large percentage of hiring managers know why that is though.

Do you think it's a good thing or a bad thing that Joe Biden announced he would be picking a diverse candidate for VP, and that he would pick a black woman for the SC?

Forget that he announced it like an idiot, but that he even thought it?

Are you high? How does that logically follow from what I said in any way?

No but I am exhausted from a newborn

If we are all guilty of subconscious bias to hire people who look like us, then I suspect that minority owned businesses will start thriving by subconconsciously hiring people that look like them, and they will catch up to whitey companies who've been doing this for decades

I feel like you know the flaws in this argument given where capital is largely concentrated.

I have no problem with Trump choosing another Ivy Leaguer as his veep. I realize they are a disadvantaged group needing all the help they can get.

I actually don’t believe it necessary for the Vice President or a SCOTUS Justice to be any specific race or gender. I have concerns with the consequences of what is called a meritocracy, but there are certain appointments where I’d be more concerned with their qualifications than filling a supposed gap. Fortunately I do believe that KBJ was an immensely qualified federal judge and that Kamala Harris was a qualified politician. I also think there’s value in their unique perspectives in their positions. I don’t object to suggestions that race and gender shouldn’t be the basis for these decisions, but I do object that just because someone is a member of a particular group that they cannot also be qualified and capable.

I'm just relieved one of the four people on the major party tickets doesn't wear makeup on a routine basis. Those of us who don't go for makeup were feelin' underrepresented.

The bestselling author of a book about “white fragility” has been accused of plagiarising sections of the work of two Asian-Americans in her doctoral thesis.

Robin DiAngelo, an anti-racism consultant who argues that racial divisions have been entrenched by “defensive” white people, committed 20 cases of plagiarism, according to a complaint filed with her alma mater, the University of Washington.

Ms DiAngelo’s book White Fragility became a New York Times bestseller when it was published in 2018, and also experienced a surge in popularity following the death of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020.

First Kendi, now DiAngelo? Shame!
