2024 Field

12 strikes me as young. I had a friend in HS who needed breast reduction because it was causing her back problems and psychological harm as well. I think parents in consultation with doctors can figure out the right age.

Fine. 15 years old and wants the complete works. Breast implants, Lipo suction, lip and face filler. Would you support that? Again I ask, when did encouraging people to be ok with their own become taboo?

Also, your analogy represents primarily relieving physical pain.

my recollection was her psychological distress was the main issue

Does it really matter if they are lacking breasts or have too much of them, if the underlying is how they feel about themselves? Would you support a girl or boy getting cosmetic surgery at age 15 because they are depressed and they think it will boost their self esteem?

I'd defer to their parents and doctors. There are lots of medical interventios that are performed during childhood. Some of them are performed primarily or even entirely because of their effects on the child's self-esteem.

One of the concerns many on the Right have is that some on the Left believe the State is an appropriate substitute for parents in these types of cases. Slippery slopes et al

I know of one parent (a medical doctor no less) who sought out hormone therapy for his soon because he thought his son would be happier at 5'8 than 5'4.

I'd lean more to trusting parents. There is no perfect solution. Some parents will do things I find appalling, such as send their kids to a school that avoids teaching evolution. But I'm OK with them having that choice.

That's a cop out. Answer the question. It shouldn't be hard. Would you be ok with a child getting plastic surgery because they believe it will boost their self esteem?

You have already admitted you have limits. What are those limits?

Does hormone therapy to help a boy grow taller count as cosmetic? Seriously why would I care if a parent decided that would make their child more happy.

Because it's ethically and morally wrong.

****, why stop there? Let's just move right on to eugenics and **** with their hormones before they get out of the womb. It's the parents decision right, amirite?

And yes, I would have issues with Parents living vicariously through their children and trying to make them taller or stronger or faster by using some sort of hormone therapy.

Hey. There are lots of choices I wouldn't make for my kids. But my instinct is to defer to other parents when it comes to raising their kids. There are obviously some lines we draw as a society. But parents should be given a lot of latitude with respect to how they raise their kids.

that would be racist, or something

Yes to this! I hope you realize how much of a realignment there has been since 2012!

Nowadays Dem voters are disproportionately highly educated ballers who pay taxes and Republican voters are disproportionately poorly educated whiners who pay little or no taxes.

I'm all for it!! Let the high taxpaying folks have a bigger vote!! Let the electoral votes of each state reflect what their residents pay in federal taxes!! Brilliant!!!

I would be absolutely be supportive of letting only tax payers vote and letting the chips fall where they may
