GDT 8/21/24: Braves vs Phillies - Great Lineup Adjustment

Sometimes you gotta think there's no way anyone as incompetent as this umpire could get picked to be at the top of his profession. Then you remember MLB picks them and might pick them for their willingness to play ball with MLBs desires more than their ability.
 
literally one of the worst hitters in the league trying to show up one of the better hitters and when your team is currently trailing that players team in the standing and has kicked your ass the last two postseasons. I mean talk about reading the room... what a freaking moron.

AA should send a note to the phils and say go ahead and put a fastball in the middle of his back if you want... oh and don't worry.. pretty much quad A players after him so you don't have to worry about him scoring.

That's really all that matters.

Also there is a high chance the last WC spot comes down to the Braves/Mets series at the end of the year. Winning 2 of 3 would essentially be a 2 game swing since the winner would own the tie breaker.

I think thats the ideal scenario. It would essentially be a playoff series. If we couldnt win that what chance would we even have in the actual playoffs. And if we win I think that gives the team a lot of momentum and confidence going into the playoffs.
 
except if you have to use you studs to pitch that series.. might have to start game 1 of the WC series with Mort or Schwelly.

ideally, you have the playoff spot wrapped up before that series so you can line up the pitching if possible.
 
Hopefully it doesnt come down to the last series but i’d say tonight is a must win. The division is a super long shot but if we lose tonight then the division is over imo.
 
not trying to be a debbie downer.. but the division is over.. the Phils are too good and the Braves are too flawed to realistically catch them. Put both teams full strength and I would hold hope even with the lead and few games left in the season. the Braves at this point is only winning games if enough guys can homer and the get great pitching.. way to hard to put a good streak together being one dimensional like this.

would like to look at runs via homers versus league average.. maybe break it before and after AS break.

We got 4 really good SP. I value having the momentum of needing to win a series to get in. Things have to line up really badly for one of the 4 to be ready to go. We might end up with Schwellenbach having to pitch a game 1 but lining **** up perfectly hasn't worked for us in the past.
 
So looking at the lineup.. does everyone still feel good about winning tonight? I mean Whit hitting second and actually getting the last at bat with men on base is just asinine.
Now he moved meth head to 8th.. behind Ramon and Dufail. I can't even begin to say how much I hate that guy.

on top of that, Having JJ in the 8th when everyone and their mother knew Thompson would counter with the 2 lefties, then Shwarb... Lee was the right call.. he is just as good as JJ in a lot of metrics and was the easy call.. JJ could pitch the 9th if need be or let Lee go through Harper if need be, then JJ... but hey it is the 8th and I have only one move to make.
