GDT 8/27/24 - Braves @ Twins - Merrifield takes over leadoff

Offense starting to click. Get Albies back and we’ll be in pretty good shape. Razor Ramon has been a huge pickup by AA.
 
These are very good wins - we are winning road games against a very good team… and getting some confidence that we can score late when we need to.

Of course we shouldn’t have needed to….

Iggy was just amazing again!

I’m sure age and declining stuff is the main cause for uncle Jesse, but could the absence of Kranitz contribute to him being terrible since the all star break?

Maybe. But he was just about our most reliable reliver until July. He's a had a rough go the last 2 months for sure. Maybe he's done, or maybe it's a mechanics issue. Given his track record in Atlanta, I tend to believe it's probably mechanical.

chavez can be valuable if used correctly. He should see the bottom half of the lineup only or in mop up duties.. 6+ runs either way.. never leave him if things get dicey. My issues are with Jackson and I guess Bummer.. If twit is afraid to use them, then they shouldn't be on the active roster. Both guys are good enough statistically to be high leverage (jackson is a walking vodoo doll however)... Maybe there was a reason that twit avoided Bummer last night, but I can't imagine why. He hasn't been used excessively really.
 
This Schwellenbach kid. Doesn't have the best command of his stuff. Sets a career high with 3 walks. Strikes out 8 in less than 5 innings. 17 k per 9 are you kidding me. Some people say he isn't a Frontline starter but I know special when I see it and this kid is special. My only question is how long before AA signs him to a contact extension.

Honestly would rather the Mets lose. Very unlikely we move past the 5 seed, which means we'll be flying to either AZ or CA in round 1 if we end up at 5. Much rather face Milwaukee or Philly in round 1. We have owned Philly pretty much all year and Milwaukee is not nearly as tough as AZ, SD, or LAD.
 
just want to get a big enough lead to set up pitchers for the playoffs and to not push them too hard down the stretch. So just keep winning and don't worry about what others do..
