2024 Field

It’s going to be 400EVs.

Harris is dreadful and word is they’ve asked about mics again spurring speculation she is going to drop out of debate her CNN performance was so awful.

Further - waltz brother about to spill the beans what a degenerate the vp candidate truly is…

Excellent message. Sad reality is marijuana will be legalized by voters. It’s all about figuring out how to not ruin it for non smokers.

It’s not a bad message, but it’s also outside the purview of the federal government. Trump can persuade states to take up that issue if he likes, but it’s ultimately up to the states.

What I’d love to hear from him is a commitment to legalizing marijuana at the federal level.

There are other issues that are mostly state and local responsibilities but where it can be useful for a presidential candidate to weigh in.

Permitting and zoning laws is one example. Probably the main impediment to expanding the supply of housing. Mostly a state and local matter. But the federal government can affect such things at the margin and having a president who speaks out against NIMBYism would be a good thang.

I think Trump's ideas about legalizing pot but have restrictions on its use in public spaces have some merit. Of course, if you're going to go to certain concerts pot smoking is part of the deal. I do wonder if it is practical to spend much in the way of public resources enforcing something like that. Having it on the books has some symbolic value.

Think public consumption should be a monetary penalty. How you ID people and associate the fee with that person is tricky for sure.

The smell of cigarette smoke is more unpleasant for me than the smell of pot. But we've passed laws that pretty much force cigarette smokers outdoors. Hard to find the right balance. A lot of apartment buildings have rules against both.

As a recently quit habitual smoker I agree marijuana smoke is much more pleasing.

I feel like the marijuana discussion is being made out to be far too complicated. Legalize it for recreational use the way that we have alcohol legalized, keep laws regarding where one can use marijuana consistent with how we treat alcohol. You don’t need to light up in public, smoke and drive, be high at work. But you also shouldn’t have to find a state that has it legalized to be able to do it on your own time since the state already allows alcohol sales.

That's an interesting analogy. But I'm not sure it works. For example, when people gather at a park for say a concert or fireworks display they'll bring along a cooler with snacks and beverages, including sometimes alcoholic beverages. No one gets bent out of shape if other people are having a beer, as long as they don't start acting like idiots. I don't think it is the same with pot in that kind of setting, for various reasons. It is a shame we feel like we need laws or regulations for this stuff. If people could just exercise a little common sense and consideration for others there would be no issues.

Sorry, I’m not trying to pretend that there aren’t *some* additional considerations to take into account. If you can disturb others with your recreational activities, then it’s fair to put some common sense laws into place. But most of those places already don’t allow alcohol. It’s just not enforced. Maybe you enforce it more stringently for marijuana. But some combination of our current tobacco and alcohol usage norms seem fine to me.

Dems going to use the DNC “superspreader” as an excuse for kommela to bail. Seems telegraphed to me.

Don’t you dare watch our drop boxes where we manufactured millions of votes across the key swing states.

Uh oh to the lake haters out there! Trump will lift all ships too come Election Day.

Not sure if I’ll get more joy out of Trump winning or if lake pulls it off.
