GDT 9/3/24: Braves vs Rockies - Gotta play Snit proof ball

On a groundball right at the ss? I don't buy that xBA at all. Maybe if bases were empty, that's a hit, but with DP in order that's an out 99/100

Do you understand the luck of that ball being hit straight to an infielder like that? If that's a few feet on either side of the infielder with that velocity it's a hit.

Again though, that's where a SS plays in a DP spot. No one on,hit. Runner on 1st with 1 or less outs, DP

Boy, that could've been very ugly. Couldn't tell how much of it got Merrifield's helmet.

The ball got half helmet and half of the back of the skull. Merrifield is very lucky.

If that was Acuña, they’d have stop the game for the ensuing wake.

Nobody has the kind of precision you think they do.

I don't think mutiny has that kind of precision at all. All I'm saying is with runners on 1st and 2nd 0 outs, that ball is an out every time in mlb bc that's where SS position themselves in that spot. xBA obviously doesn't factor in where fielders position in certain spots

Don’t even know why I’m going to try to post this - database errors will eat it alive - but Damn JJ is lethal when he’s on!!

There is a nanosecond (okay, a little hyperbole) between a hit and a DP on that play. If humans had the precision while batting you think that they do they would hit the sweet spot of a bat every time up. No ground balls and a home run every time. In all seriousness (not trying to be dick) have you ever batted a ball before?

That's what it looked like to me, too. Had it gotten all noggin, I don't see any way it wouldn't have knocked him out. It also made a sound like it smacked his helmet to some degree.

I can't hit for crap, but there's no SS in mlb that doesn't field that ball right at them.
