Burdensome student debt increases poverty. Poverty increases crime, which increases the chances of children being brought up in bad situations, which increases calls for welfare.

Is this what getting past first order thinking looks like?

Indeed. We must cancel student loans now

I support forgiving student debt by making the universities pay for it - Not taxpayers who are an innocent party to the transaction.

No - Planning to restrict consolidation is what I support.

Every solution you've proposed over the last 2 years is a government solution

You simply believe the "correct" government is the answer to solving all problems

You're a socialist. Which, as we keep saying, is fine! Lots of idiots are. But stop denying it

I believe the government functions to protect its citizens.

Not large corporations.

You think otherwise.

You are allowed to believe that. Maybe you’re right.

But you are no longer allowed to call someone a communist. That card is revoked moving forward.

Likening what I support to what actual communism looks like it well an approach to take.

Consolidation like we have seen is closer to communism than what I'm proposing.

So what do you support?

My limit is when the actions of someone negatively impacts an innocent 3rd party.

Fraud in the market has victims. Poisoning the environment has victims

Person taking a 20% credit loan creates no victim other than that person, which was voluntary

It's rather amazing to see how far left you've run over the last 2 years. You can say you always have been this way but that is not true. You used to slam socialist policies at every turn.

This is the threat of Trump, only he can move our country so far left so fast because his cult will go with literally everything he says with zero push back.

You and garmel were slamming price controls a month ago. Now you're going to bat for them. The only difference is who called for them

We can prosecute bars and even bartenders for overserving patrons, despite the patrons voluntarily asking for alcohol.

We can also prosecute doctors for over prescribing medication to patients that ask for it.

Just because someone voluntarily accepts something, doesn't relieve the other party from accountability.

Should we prosecute grocery stores that overcharge people for apples?

Corporations will do what they are allowed to do to the absolute limit. This idea that the 'corporation' is a sainted party is why the traditional republicans lost the country.

The government should exist to protect our rights and liberty, which includes my right to voluntarily take a mutually agreed on credit loan

Well when crime rates are spiking and you can't go into cities at night don't complain.

I wonder what poverty does to abortion rates....

Telling a private business what price they can/cannot charge their customers is BY DEFINITION a price control.

What are you arguing here?

Interest rates are not the exact same thing as freezing prices. A company can still loan as much money as they want with no limit. Now, if they limited the amount you could borrow it would be the same.

Price controls on goods damages demand and supply.

Show me where credit card limits on interest in states and laws against predatory loans have damaged the economy.

I'll wait.

I’m not trying to make it out to be taboo…I just think it’s a terrible idea. And I question the constitutionality of a POTUS intervening in private industry in this way. And I question why supporters who’ve been eager to label the other side as communist are supporting this. Find it hard to imagine (R) here supporting this proposal had it happened to originate with Harris.

Because it's a stretch to call it communism.

Meanwhile, Harris has literally said she wants to come into your home in regards to gun control. That she supports mandatory buybacks. She is literally on record saying she would sign a reparations bill. She wants to push further on Climate change innitatives that already socialist to begin with.

Taking a quick look at a large credit card company, Capital One.

Their net interest margin last year was 6%. Their average interest they charged on credit loans was 19%.

The feds capping them to 10% would turn their company unprofitable.

And yall support that action?
