GDT 9/24/24: Braves vs Mets - A Series of Must Wins

So what happens realistically? This series is the biggest in baseball right now. Moving it to a neutral sight hurts the Braves alot bc it takes the crowd out of it and playing in our park. If we play a double header Monday then both teams are in trouble bc the WC games start Tuesday.

Don’t ask me about the plan… I don’t know lol… I just don’t see how they play tonight and probably tomorrow

MLB should have some power to supersede what the Braves are allowed to do for the betterment of the game and both teams.

Do you understand the logistical nightmare it would be to move an MLB game to another city at the last minute?

Not to mention that it would hardly be fair to the Braves who would lose a lot of revenue from the Battery and concessions.

Moving the braves from 2 home games should come at a penalty. Say, give the Braves a 1/2" game in standings

I do and yes it would hurt the Braves.. but it will also potentially devastate the Braves if they have to play a double header on Monday and then fly out to San Diego for a Tuesday game.

The league should have made the call to do something on Sunday when it was already known that the weather was going to suck.. now the league has to do nothing and pray for the best.. There is also a very good chance Friday doesn't happen because 10 inches of rain is going to make the field unplayable. So now you are potentially looking at a double header on Saturday and another on Monday... just to sell a few beers and hotdogs. The league could reimburses the Braves if it came to moving the game.

What they outta do is play game two at 3:00 today - and then if they have to play Monday, fly both teams to SD and play it their park. And then make the Mets take a greyhound bus back to queens.

Having a double header on Mon would **** whoever comes out the winner for the WC series. Starters in those games would not be ready.

keep it in the south and sell tickets at a discount. They just did a game at Rickwood field in Bham. Weather in Bham is playable for both nights.

This is undoubtedly the correct answer. Braves country is huge, so there are many places where the Braves would still be the "home" team with a packed house.

Literally anything is preferable to playing a DH on Monday followed by the WC round across the country the very next day. There's almost 0 chance the winner of the DH does well the next day. If it comes to that the WC round needs to be delayed 1 day.

For the Olson haters. He's the best defensive 1B in baseball according to DRS. Thus he now has a 4 WAR season at bref. Not bad.

This. I feel certain MLB would delay by a day. They’d have to.

They gonna refund 40K tickets?

The correct answer was starting the series on Monday when both teams had an off day.

If they have to delay the WC series for this so be it. There shouldnt be all those off-days baked into these series anyway. How come teams regularly play DH's, or travel and play a game the next day in the regular season and can't do it in the playoffs?
