GDT 9/24/24: Braves vs Mets - A Series of Must Wins

The correct answer was starting the series on Monday when both teams had an off day.

that would have taken forward thinking which ManDick in not capable of doing. Thursday game was a rescheduled game to begin with. So move that game to Monday and then move today's game to an afternoon game.. all that could have been done on Sunday.

So there were many logical options, and the path chosen was to do nothing and allow a hurricane to rain out 2 games that are essentially playoff games.

No matter what, no team should be forced to play a DH on the East coast Monday and then a playoff game on the West coast Tuesday. That disadvantage is inexcusable.

Hopefully the MLB will do the correct thing and move game 1 of the WC back 1 day. You would think the MLB has never encountered a rain out before with they way this has been handled.

Is there a scenario where the Mets could forfeit both games on Monday?

Lets say on Monday they have a 2 game lead on us and 1 game lead on AZ. Since they have the tiebreaker on AZ, they would already have the 2nd WC spot locked up. Could they just decide to say "eff it" and take both L's without playing instead of having to play a DH and then fly to Milwaukee? Would the MLB allow that?

You’d think MLB would see this coming and have a plan. I’m sure someone at MLB headquarters at the very least has The Weather Channel

Only scenario it might work is if the Braves and Mets are locked into WC2 or WC3 regardless of what happens in those game(s). If the Dbacks are already eliminated after Sunday I could see it happening.

I am pretty sure this is the Braves call. I bet the league could over rule them and make arrangement otherwise, but I blame this fiasco on the Braves and them wanting the money from this series. If the Braves do make it and have to fly out west, they deserve the disadvantage they get for being greedy.

Please keep us posted ZB on any additional weather prophecies.

I was thinking if we could get one game in it would be today… tomorrow will certainly be a washout… but sadly, looking at the radar it’s becoming apparent that today is a washout too. Maybe the slightest amount of hope some drier air could filter in for a little bit tonight but I wouldn’t bet on it.

That really hurts the Braves. We really needed Sale and Fried for these games and then to be ready to start the WC round.

I'm guessing it's Sale-Fried-Morton for KC and Schwelly-Lopez for the DH. Maybe the Dback will hang themselves and it won't matter.

Obviously not ideal, but in the scheme of things, rather trivial. God be with the ones in the path, but this is not looking good at all. As someone who lives in hurricane country, all too familiar with these storms.
