GDT 9/25/24: Braves vs Mets - Sale for the Triple Crown

So if things are settled this weekend would the double header be rendered unnecessary and not played?

Seeding would probably be the biggest thing then. The Mets right now hold the tie breaker so we would need to win both of those games i believe to get it back. Alot of it is gonna depend on this weekend. We need to sweep the Royals.

The Braves own the tiebreaker.

Braves currently hold a 6-5 edge on the Mets. Also, it would be nice if the Royals could clinch (or be close to clinching) a playoff spot after tomorrow night.

We currently hold the tiebreaker vs the Mets and D-Backs. The Mets have to win the final 2 games against us to take the season series.
 
Twins collapsing. Down 3-0 to Marlins in the first. If they lose and the Royals win tonight, I believe the Royals clinch a playoff spot.

Fine by me. But then they can’t complain about any disadvantage they receive from possible double header on Monday.
 
If a team has to play a DH on Monday and then fly to SD for a game on Tuesday they may as well not even go. This is extremely unfair for the Mets and Braves, and should have been handled differently.
 
Can someone smarter than me (low bar to clear) explain what Detroit needs to happen to clinch a playoff spot prior to Sunday?

Explanations that include the Tigers holding Skubal for game one of the wild card series rather than starting him in game 162 preferred.

Royals front office I have to admit did a great job. I was laughing at them last year and this year thinking they were competitors. They made a lot of moves that typically dont go well like signing Lugo and Wacha. Too bad they dont have a great farm system from what I hear, they very well might Trout Bobby Witts career. They are going to have to keep hitting home runs on bargain bin free agents to stay competitive. The Tigers though sold at the trade deadline and made the playoffs. Thats hilarious. We probably could have done that too if we just traded our pending free agents to fix the offensive holes we had on the team. Yeah that means we dont have an ace going 4 out of 5 games but we might win more of those aces starts with a better offense.

I agree. However, the posts I am reading is that mlb had alternatives available but the Braves didn’t want to do any and hoped to get the games in. So the org rolled the dice and it crapped out and now they play a double header the day before a WC game. One or both of the Mets and Braves are going to wreck their pitching before playing in a 3 game series. The fans of both teams should be mad.

Now MLB probably should have stepped in but the league is run by the owners puppet and would never do that.
