GDT 9/25/24: Braves vs Mets - Sale for the Triple Crown

Are they missing their entire starting rotation?
Not sure. But the Tigers have gained 8 games on them since Sept 1
Yeah - kinda hard to really call that a choke job when the whole staff was done for
The Royals would still be competing with the Tigers for seeding
That's not important enough to waste your 5 WAR pitcher and have him not ready for game 1.
Fried is starting tomorrow. They are saving Sale for any elimination game or game 1 of the WC. It's a bold move.
We need to win 2/3 and then most likely sweep the Mets. If we sweep KC however, and Zona loses one, then we just have to win one.
Or, we sweep and NYM loses one, then we just have to win one.
If we sweep, and Arizona loses two - then we are in.
If we sweep and NYM loses two, then we still have to win one.
If we sweep and NYM or Zona or both also sweep, then we gotta win two on Monday.
If it were up to me, I’d go for sweeping the KC bastards. If we don’t, we gotta use Sale Monday - maybe. If we only need to win one, use Schwelley first and maybe just maybe we won’t need Sale for game two and he’s ready for WC game 1.
Seems to me, holding Sale back is ballsy as hell - it’s like “don’t use him unless we lose one,” but I’d like to not be in that position and give ourselves the best possible chance of the sweep and hope we get some help. We can beat SD with Fried and Lopez and if Sale pitches Saturday, he could go in game three …
Having to win a DH won’t be easy - even if it is Schwelley and Sale.
But if we can pull it off and get to Monday only needing one- and Schwelley locks ‘em down again… we are gonna look brilliant.
We rarely look brilliant…
