I read this entire blog post, and it’s sparse on details, providing no real evidence beyond the noted anti-immigration economist’s research. It’s always generally been understood that asylum seekers and low income immigrants will require support. But in addition to my belief that it is good to use our public funding to help those in the most need, these immigrants have children who often end up contributing positively to the country’s economy.
Here is a shocker - Support the native population with assistance so that you encourage having children.
Low skilled migration is a killer for the middle/lower class but that doesn't matter to the people that actually make the decisions. Upper middle/wealthy become moreso when the home country accepts migrants.
That will all go to hell when violence breaks out though because too many people are poor as ****.

The thing is that it’s primarily people on your “team” that won’t let that happen regardless of immigration numbers.
I won’t be joining this team without some major changes to positions on social issues, but I welcome any support to the cause of helping folks afford kids.

You used to describe the Bush's and Romney's of the world as "squishy republicans." I always assumed that meant you thought they were too liberal, and always gave in to the left. Incorrect, I’d prefer money goes to the immigrants and victims of hurricanes.
It would also be nice to have some of that Ukraine money back to help the Helene victims as well.
Money isn’t unlimited, but I believe the line does not need to be drawn here. Tell Raytheon we’ll get back to them next fiscal year and pay the hurricane victims.
