2024 Field

What the Washington Post told him about it.

Lol ol soft hands ain’t gotta clue. He’s outta his depth here.

It’s like the time we had a gun debate and he said maybe I should shoot my food with a bow and arrow like a real man. lol

I don’t really gun hunt since I got into bow hunting and have a record book whitetail with bow.

Guys oblivious

How many of these have you been through? Have you run a chainsaw in your neighborhood for 14 days straight ?

What is your proof? Do you have experience dealing with the government in this manner ?

When Michael hit, that’s all we did for a month. No one paid a soul to clear roads, no one paid us for our tractor fuel or use, no one asked and frankly fema never showed up.

So I ask- what do you know about it?

I happen to have some first hand experience. Hurricane Ida swept through the town I lived in three years ago (I actually got to play good Samaritan to a group whose van stalled after the engine got flooded on the highway). I got to see first hand how the recovery went from that kind of event. FEMA was in town for months afterwards helping with the recovery. I moved back to New York shortly after Superstorm Sandy hit and got to observe the aftermath of that devastation. I was good friends with one family that spent a long time living in a hotel while their home was being repaired. The expenses associated with having to live in a hotel was covered by the federal government.

I see your Michael and raise you one Sandy and one Ida.

From my teenage years in Florida I have even more first hand experiences. We had to evacuate our house for days during Hurricane David and came home to a swimming pool filled with sand.

Oh my , SAND? In a pool? Bless your heart.

So you saw the government come in and save the day with checks ?

Like I said all the work is done by the time the feds get rolling. At least in the areas with a capable population.

Lol

Sounds like a lot of work. Man- I’m so impressed, a car on the side of the road ! So selfless doing what all of us would do.

This was a sad post. Maybe if you had some redneck friends they’d have helped you out with all that sand

Get real right here and now, there are doers and talkers.

You strike me as a talker

As I understand it, no one is discouraging volunteers. But they are being asked to register with one of the organizations that is helping out.

If someone wants to help surely going through the registration process will not prevent them from helping out.

Again, organizations have been turned away. If only it was as simple as downloading an app and registering as a migrant. Then maybe we could get these people some help.

You are to be commended for all the work you did helping your community.

The federal government provided the funds my friends needed when they had to live out of a hotel after Sandy. After Ida many of my neighbors got help from FEMA. I probably could have applied for the repairs that had to be done to my basement. But my son and I lugged all the waterlogged furniture to the side of the street to be picked up and I hired someone to redo the basement.

Firsthand acct of bureaucracy in action-

The school bod in Atlanta wouldn’t let my BIL give out the food from the school coolers that lost power to the community in need, because reasons

He did it anyway.

My college roommate’s business is the staging area for the community and their tractors. His D8s cleared the roads before the weekend was out.

The forestry commission couldn’t get in there yet but they sent a helicopter to asses. Turns out assessment is just looking and not helping.

He won’t receive a dime for all the work he did on his own dime and I bet he’d turn it down anyway. They cooked for everyone volunteering and amazingly they weren’t part of any official organization to be approved.

Because that’s what we do for neighbors. Th run just got power Friday.

it's his playthang and i don't begrudge him having fun with his toy

i know the rest of us are having fun with it too!
