2024 Field

Nsacpi, it's despicable that you are defending the failure of all this. I love exactly 1 hour away from this disaster. I personally know folks that cannot get back to their homes and have been DENIED FEMA assistance. They are actively blockading roads and denying support trucks with food/grocery from getting through.

Illegal immigrants are literally receiving more money and support than Americans who have lost everything.

But please tell me more about what the Washington Post has to say.

He is instructed in what to believe. Real life testimonials be damned.

Yeah, they're not discouraging volunteers at all. Read the last highlighted sentence. Gaslight us right in our face.

Uh yeah... that's standard operating procedure during a catastrophic disaster. Extra volunteers can many times get in the way of real help. There is literally nothing unusual about this. Come on.

Oh, yes. We have to follow the approved narrative.

No fool like an old fool.

Perhaps now they are getting things under control. However, the last few days have been chaotic.

Catastrophic natural disasters tend to lead to chaos for several days, no matter how prepared the response.

According to whom?

Damn, those volunteers! They're all in the way!

I imagine there have been isolated issues at times with volunteers but I'm willing to bet the Appalachian people will risk that.

As I understand it, no one is discouraging volunteers. But they are being asked to register with one of the organizations that is helping out.

If someone wants to help surely going through the registration process will not prevent them from helping out.

Probably now that things have settled. A few days ago that doesn't look to be the case.

Yes. In the immediate aftermath if you learn of someone in need of help you just go help them. That's a great impulse and one that should be appreciated.

But there is no sinister plot to prevent help from getting to people.

A registration process before being allowed in you say?

There is no requirement people register. They are strongly encouraged to do so. But hey this is 'merica. People can do what they want.

It’s funny thinking that fema and these organizations just blanket the area.

They don’t. 99% of the work will get done by the red voters with tractors, saws, and whatever useful things they have. FEMA might go to Asheville and give out water but that’s not gonna help your neighbor get his tree off his house

If you waited on these “organizations” you’d be 3-4 years getting back to real life

eh those good people with the tractors and saws aren't going to be performing their services for free...they will be largely paid by los federales

that's how it works...FEMA contracts out for those kinds of services

i guess some of you want to keep score as to who gets credit for that

How many of these have you been through? Have you run a chainsaw in your neighborhood for 14 days straight ?

What is your proof? Do you have experience dealing with the government in this manner ?

When Michael hit, that’s all we did for a month. No one paid a soul to clear roads, no one paid us for our tractor fuel or use, no one asked and frankly fema never showed up.

So I ask- what do you know about it?

The best thing the people of Boone and Asheville can do is make sure the rednecks have plenty of coffee. libs do make a mean cup of joe
