2024 Field

Oh I agree - He was forced to debate because of Trumps presence. He would have never debated if it was anyone else is my contention.

But even with his dementia Biden was still the best candidate the Dems had and still remained extremely popular amongst Democrats/Indepdendents.

There has been a televised debate every election for the past like 60 years. Biden was never going to back out. Biden's approval rating had been steadily falling since the Q1 of 2023. From late October through Mid March, it never rose above 39.9%, when it briefly got boosted by the SOTU. Then it never rose above 40.0% again until late August when he was already out of the race. There is no chance whatsoever that Biden was going beat anyone the Republicans out there. Hell I would have given Chris Christie at least a 50/50 chance to beat Biden.

I guess you haven’t paid attention as to what’s happening on lots of college campuses. Don’t worry - Goldy laughed at me when I said Trump would eventually get 15-20% of the black vote too.

No I think you're seeing what you want to see because you're in a bubble of your own ecosystem. Trump didn't make **** cool. By your logic Trump made wearing adult diapers cool but I don't see you rushing out to buy depends. Trump makes nothing cool. He's a ****ing billionaire weirdo.

What in the actual **** do you think poverty is?

I’ve seen all those programs in place for these workers and still not be enough. If the daycare closes or your kid is sick and can’t stay at daycare, you have to miss work. Almost every company has a strict attendance policy that life doesn’t align with perfectly.

We also need to differentiate between some isolated choices like having unprotected sex that results in a child and a pattern of behavior where you just don’t work hard.

Poverty is when you can't afford a home and food. Just becuase you can't get nice closes or go on vacation doesn't mean you are impovershed.

You are acting like the current iteration of the Democrat party cares about norms.

Thats your issue.

You're talking about Trump and depends while also pretending you have any clue what you are talking about.

You are a pathetic little child who allowed the media to completely warp your perception of reality.

Just wait till the data on the election comes out and Trump does better than any republican in decades with young people and minorities.

I meant the opposite could be true as well bc of your reddit based ecosystem, no?

The mind virus also made many people on here completely unhinged lunatics.

Tell me how you’d personally pay for food and housing for you and a child on $20,000 a year and get back to me, let alone buy any of the other things you need beyond food or housing.

Becuase the government subsidizese both of those things if you make 20K a year.

20K becomes 30 over time and when kids get older it becomes 40-50K.

You just can't be a lazy unmotivated loser.

Unless you can’t keep that job because your child got sick more than 5 times in a given year and you get fired. And nobody is suggesting you can’t afford housing and food with government assistance. Government support for those in poverty is quite literally what the left is suggesting we continue to do more of. If conservatives weren’t trying to kick people off of these programs we wouldn’t need to have this discussion to begin with.

It doesn't matter what the norms are. Biden is/was extremely unpopular. There was no way they weren't going to have a debate with whatever Republican was thrown out. When a POTUS is that unpopular, they aren't going to take a chance that Americans prefer him over a random Republican.

And Kamala is absolutely doing better than Biden in every facet. Trump had a consistent national polling lead on Biden that peaked after the debate. RCP doesn't have Biden leading Trump at any point in national polling from Nov 23 through the moment he dropped out. Trump was polling 3-5 points better than Biden in GA, AZ, NC, and NV BEFORE the debate.

Also, RCP now has Trump leading MI. So that's 5 of the 7 swing states currently leaning Trump, without factoring in how far off polling was in favor of the Democrats the last 2 elections.

My biggest problem in all this is the tension between needing folks to have more kids as the Right suggests and these views on economics and welfare programs. If you tell people to have kids, then make it so their life is hell because of their finances, I don’t know how you think you’re benefitting society as a whole.

Things are hard financially bc of inflation which is caused by deficit spending and neither party is interested in addressing.

But create more nanny programs which will create more dependence and inflation and will make the problem worse. That's the government model
