Terrible hitter but plus fielder. A lot of time at SS. AAA hitting stats look good, but it hasn't translated.
Johnson could never seem to find the strike zone with any consistency. Missed 2022 with arm injury. Big fastball. Johnson's departure leaves Kadon Morton as the last of the post-10th round above-slot bonus players from the 2019 draft still in the organization (Estes, Grissom, Owens, Yeager, and Ball are with other organizations) and Morton has been moved to pitcher from the OF with little success.
Honestly AA probably isn’t gonna try to sign a legit utility guy with Snit managing. It’s pointless. Arcia could be put into that role if we acquire a better SS.
Very true, but I think Anthopoulos should at least shoulder a bit of the responsibility. He signed all these guys to lucrative extensions and I don't think the plan was to rest them all that much for that reason. Still and all, if Anthopoulos signed a legitimate multi-position guy and had a sit-down with Snitker and went through a week-by-week plan regarding player utilization and load management, I have to believe it would be employed. The front office is calling a lot of these shots.
I'll be honest: I have no idea who either of these people are.
Please please please don't let this be the SS for the bench.
I'm sure the staff in charge of major league scouting has drilled down deep and found some obscure measurement that justifies the acquisition in the same way it justified obtaining Lucas Luetge.
