REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Ryan threw for 4500 yards and 26 TDs that year.

Peyton always has an elite receiver be it Harrison, Wayne, or Thomas. He made them better but he always had weapons. Brady when he was at his best had either a Moss or Gronk to throw to.

Great QBs elevate their WR. But they still need guys to catch them. Again if only QB play mattered why would KC and Buffalo trade for receivers?

Its not like the QBs are taking you off the street and making them into an NFL player. I am talking about making an NFL caliber player look really good.

Tom Brady is a complete non story. In his second season in the NFL, he won the title with Troy Brow and David PAtten as his WRs.

Of course HOF QBs have elite skill position players, a lot of times they make them that way. How would Marvin Harrison look with Marcus Mariotta throwing to him?

Brady wasn't considered elite in the early part of his career because.....it was the early part of his career LOL and he was a 6th round pick. If Luck and Lawrence were 5th round picks, they wouldn't have the excuses they have thrown their way.

The stats don't lie. The Falcons have a bottom 10 defense. They've given up the 9th most yards and 10th most points in spite of having a good offense that doesn't have a lot of 3 and outs.

They've given up the 11th most passing yards so the secondary isn't elite and 8th most rusing yards so it's hard to say the LBs have been great.

The Falcons are a team with an excellent offense and a bad defense. Morris gets credit for bringing in Robinson but he was an obvious choice and if he gets poached there's not an obvious replacement that's already close to Morris.

Morris is likeable and a huge improvement over the idiot that was Arthur Smith but he's a bad Xs and Os coach and a mediocre coach overall. He'll make the playoffs this year and maybe next but it's really just a matter of time before this team ends up like the one he coached in TB.

And as for my bad takes, Arcia and his 0.8 WAR says hi.

Absolutely no one argued with you about Arcia this year… let’s talk about the 2.4 WAR year… you know the one when you would spend 4 posts a day if he had a bad game saying he sucked that year regardless of the numbers?

The Falcons have 7 interceptions on the year, have the best safety combo in the league and a very good CB1… they certainly have an elite secondary.

No he wasn't considered Elite because he was good but not doing what Peyton and Brees and Favre etc. were doing.

Before 07 he had only 1 season over 4000 yards, and no seasons over 30 TDs.

Brady won his early Super Bowls because of clutch performance and his defense. He wasn't going to outscore the Greatest Show on Turf.

Also Troy Brown wasn't that bad. He was a 1000 yard receiver before Brady arrived. Not saying he had great weapons, but BRady didn't hit those highs until eh got a great weapon.

Look at Brady's best season by most standards before 07. 04. He was 10th in Yards Thrown, 6th in TDs, 10th in Y/A. Solid not elite.

His top season in Yards in relation with seaosn was 05 where he had the most passing yards (his 1 season over 4000 yards) he still wasn't top in TDs or top 5 in Y/A and just snuck in at 5th in NY/A. Him being top was more that it was a down year for everyone else. 04 was the lowest in a season since 97 and since 1990 is the 3rd lowest top passing yard season.

Anyway. My point is Brady was by many considered behind Peyton for sure, and considered behind Favre, possibly Palmer etc.

LOL- you can compare todays football stats to 2001.

Brady didn't throw for 30+ touchdowns...correct...well he lead the NFL in TDs with 28 in 2002. He lead the NFL in passing yards in 2005.

Many considered Brady behind Carson Palmer and Brett Favre. Come on dude.

WTF are the Cowboys doing. Who trades a decent draft pick for the worst team in the leagues 4th WR?

FOr sure many considered him over those guys as others didn't. BUT the point was before 07 he was viewed as a system QB on a great team. It wasn't until he got top Weapons that all the sudden he was moving towards GOAT status.

It's a Cowboys move. They're gambling that his value is tanked by the Panthers. It's got the potential to be the rare lose-lose trade. Cowboys trade a 4th for nothing and the Panthers wasted their 2nd round pick last year for a 4th round pick next year.

Nah son, I'm hardly too young. That was also the era I was most plugged into the football zeitgeist.

Need a reminder of sorts? Madden 04 he was the 4th highest rated QB in the AFC and 10th in the NFL, Madden 05 he was the 3rd highest rated QB in the AFC and tied with McNabb for 3rd in the NFL. 06 he was the 2nd in AFC and tied with McNabb for 3rd in NFL and basically every other season with a few outliers he was top 2 in the NFL in madden ratings. It's not a perfect system, but it's a good vibe for who the average fan wants to play with based on common lists.

Lamar is working his way to locking the MVP. His numbers are stupid good as a passer, 9.3 Y/A 8.0 TD% if he keeps this up he'll be on his way to having one of the best seasons of a player ever.

I don't think he keeps it up but his current 17 game average is 4500 Yards 41 TDs 4 INTs, 900 Rushing Yards, 4 rushing TDs.

Brutal no calls on the two points conversion attempt by the Bengals. It's difficult to believe the refs just missed multiple obvious penalties on that play.

I don't believe either should have been penalties. I know by the letter of the law it's roughing the passer but I hate the graze a QB's helmet with a hand should be roughing the passer, especially as you're being pulled to the ground via a hold.

The TE got yoked up then flopped. THe holding on it was minimum.

I'm a curse for the commanders/boon for the Eagles. Started watching right after they got the ball on their drive 3 drives ago. THeir defense with 2 turnovers (one on down and a pick) their offense scored 3 TDs.

One thing that's for sure, Jalen Carter is a ****ing beast. Every team that passed on him and didn't get a star will regret that. Hell Bijan has been really good and I wonder if the Falcons ****ed up. Can't imagine how Raiders, Panthers, or COlts feel with how rough their picks have been so far,

Bijan has been great but the difference between him and a second round RB isn't all that big. The difference between Carter and a second round DT is massive.

The character concerns for Carter were over blown. He did something stupid in street racing but if that's an epidemic now in college football with NIL money. It's a stupid thing kids who think they're immortal do. Considering what happened he's unlikely to do it again.

I dunno, Chris JOnes was a second round DT and he's the best DT in the league. Javon Hargrave is a 3rd round DT, etc.

You're more likely to get a hit with a top 10 pick. If BIjan becomes his potential he'll be as valuable as Carter.

I wanted Carter for the Falcons. I imagined how fun it would be having him and Jarrett destroy people.

You can hit big at any point in the draft. I'm more referring to your standard second rounders. When you draft a guy in the second you're not expecting star, you're expecting solid starter.

The dropoff from Carter to what you expect out of a second round DT is a lot bigger than Bijan to your normal second round RB.
