Looking towards 2025

The logic is there, but I'd be pretty shocked if it were to happen. It could potentially extend the window, or it could waste a year of the current one.

I think it's more likely to waste a year of the current contention window.

There simply isn't anyone worth spending massive cash on available anymore (apparently), so I don't know what the plan is if the payroll is $280M this year.

I see the logic in it, but can you plan on sale being effective in 2026? Or Olson? Or Murphy? I think this year could be just as reasonable to win in as next season.

I think it is more likely the window is closer to being closed than it is fully opened. The team is not this young intriguing group of players anymore. Nothing coming from the minors that is terribly exciting. I think dropping below the tax this year and sort of seeing if Baldwin and some of the young pitchers are for real or if those are more holes that need to be filled. Also give Acuna and Strider a full year to get back on a non stressed timeline.

Maybe if the stars align, the team can still get in the show and who knows after that.

Regardless, I feel pretty confident that 2021 threw the chance for a one-year "re-tool" out the window, even if it's a good long-term option. They have a good-enough roster to win it all as is if a few guys get hot. They know that and won't look back.

People are downplaying our chances even with zero moves. Its not ideal but we still have plenty of upside.

This. We still have a top 3 roster in MLB right now. We made it to the playoffs last year and absolutely no business being there! The health of the rotation does scare me with Sale and Strider so hopefully he can make a trade or sign another good pitcher. I have a feeling AA will have a few bargains that fall in his last towards the end of the offseason.

Here's another thought to consider. It was rumored the Braves organization would be for sale at some point in the near future, especially considering they released the stock as a way to track the value. Wonder if that has any impact on spending.

Hopefully blank buys them, and the concessions are priced like the falcons

AA's eventually gonna strike. He's not gonna just do minor league deals all winter. Even with no moves, this is a 90-92 win team. We won 89 missing like everyone last year, and down years from alot of guys.

Yeah I hope not... he's shown he can't keep his nose out of the decision making process. He's a great owner in the fact that he has tons of money and is willing to spend it... terrible operational owner.

I think the Kirk Cousins signing is an example of Blank's meddling. The Braves got good when Ted Turner finally figured out he didn't know anything about baseball.

I’m good with leaving the Braves how they are. The budget is dependent on how successful they are. I like it.

Agreed. And we've seen so many examples of meddling owners being the downfall of organizations. I wasn't always a fan of having a corporate ownership but the way it's played out has been ideal.

The Braves literally don’t have MLB players for the OF. There is Harris in CF, and a 4th OFer in Kelenic. That’s 2 of the 5 required MLB OFers. Moves have to be made, and the only possible ones left are going to be cheap because they aren’t good.

It’s almost to the point where there’s nothing worth spending money on to get over the cap.

There weren’t many great options for us anyways. Soto and Adames were over paid and next year is just as bad or worse. Only Tucker and most will be after him. Hopefully AA can swing a trade for Cease and maybe sign Profar.
