119th Congress or Red Wave In Adult Land

I don't understand why Republicans don't simply pass a simple and clean CR, let the dems kill it, and give them the blame for the shutdown

These are actual good ideas Americans would support (not leftist idiots, of course)

Only a ****ing moron would support this.

I get you want to cut spending but basically paying congress a commission that they can then reneg on in no time would be a collossal waste of money and kill the economy.

1. How would they reneg?

2. What would your proposal be to incentivize actual cuts?

3. Buffet suggest any budget that isn't balanced would make all congresspeople who voted for it intelligible for reelection. I would support that too, of course

Super impressed with Chip Roy. Total evisceration of his own party

Sorry. . But the listless vessels, er, i mean MAGA, reliably inform me that he is a spineless RINO for trying to stop 20% spending increase. The god says get him out!

I’m not actually sure I even understand what’s happening anymore from a practical standpoint. If they shorten/simplify the CR but add $5 trillion to the debt ceiling, is the expectation that they just won’t spend that extra money next session? Sounds a bit like giving a child a credit card at a toy store and just hoping they don’t max it out. Which I’m not going to complain about in a vacuum, but it seems like a weird way to shrink the deficit.

"If we don't get it, then we're going to have a shutdown, but it'll be a Biden shutdown, because shutdowns only [injure] the person who's president," he told ABC News.

Speaking of children, Trump remains just the absolute dumbest at this. A government shutdown doesn’t only hurt the President in charge, it hurts troops and federal workers. In addition to the obvious part where the debt ceiling shouldn’t be so nakedly partisan, he’s just wrong. Trump and Republicans won the House, Senate and White House in November and people are dumb. They will absolutely not accept the Republican House not passing a bill that was agreed upon by both party leaders (even if the bill is bloated) and shutting down the government and then blaming it on Dems. Hell, many people probably think they already have the majority in both chambers.

The only time republicans have been fiscally responsible in my lifetime was during Clinton's time in office.

Trump looks to continuing the tradition of heavy spending.

There's a republican in Florida who has retired a quarter of the states debt
