Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

Buehler to Boston, 1 year/21M. Already, that pisses me off. AA cant even do that?

That is certainly a deal AA would have done. Along with a couple others. It may not be AA that is the issue here.

Eh, he did say payroll was going up. But he's done basically nothing. He has to have a couple moves in the works b/c WB for 1/21 is like a perfect move for the rotation, plus he's from Georgia.

I just keep telling myself that he has a trade he’s working on lined up and is working on that lol

Yeah, he's gotta have something bigger in mind. Because Buehler for 1/21 is a perfect move.

Thats a lot for a guy who was **** until the playoffs. I wouldnt have minded taking a chance on him but for half that much.

He was coming off TJ. But who are even the SP options now? Morton is fine i guess but if we wanted him, i think we'd sign him by now. Montgomery? Meh. Cant see us in on Burnes although that would be a big time move. Unless AA's working deep to get Sasaki.

AA is absolutely holding out on a pipe dream - sasaki. When he goes elsewhere, we'll sign up Morton and laureano.

AA probably agrees and thus we will sign Morton out of desperation for 15 million on a 1 year deal and watch the Braves finish 3rd and miss the playoffs.

1/21 is an excellent contract for that type of pitcher.. that is what it takes to sign talent and AA doesn't realize it or is just waiting for another A's player to over pay for.

Morton's actually a fine #5, and something we need for the rotation (stability and innings). But he probably has something bigger in mind, who that is, no one knows. Also, we're not finishing 3rd if we have better injury luck, and AA makes some moves though. I agree we should have done that for Walker, though.

We won 89 basically w/o Acuna and Strider all year, plus Riley missed the last 6 weeks. Along with Ozzie out 6-7 weeks, plus Harris was out 1-2 months. If we have normal injury luck, this team walks to 94 wins at least.

Max put up 3.4 fWAR last season, and he's gone. Sale absolutely could stay healthy again, but he finished hurt. Strider could take all season to get right after TJ. Acuna sucked coming back from knee surgery with one good knee; now he does it with no good knee. There's question marks, and AA has made the team worse, not better

My dead Grandma is fine right now... It wasn't about Mort really as it was to point out that 1/21 for Walker was a contract that AA should have matched or even topped. given WB at 23 mill versus Mort at 15.. give me WB all day. I just find it funny that I occasionally bounce around to the fan sites and they all justify their team not signing/trading for X player because of cost.. yet that is what the market is dictating and thus you either jump in and get some talent or let it walk to other teams and dumpster dive behind the good will store.

Strider didnt get TJ, he had an interview that basically said he'll be doing live pitching in February, he's way ahead of schedule. I agree losing Max will hurt, so AA needs to make a SP move. But we basically replace Max with the other Spencer if you think about it. Sale repeating last year is very unlikely, i'll agree on that. Acuna though, we'll see. But we were trotting out an outfield last year of Duvall, Laurenao and Kelenic for a decent part of the season.

For a month or so, we will be running out kelenic, Harris, and probably Jordan luplow at this rate

AA's eventually gonna do something. If we run out this current outfield or Laureano, no one will be more frustrated than me. Same with SP.
