Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

Never would have guessed he would end up in Arizona. Gallen I believe is a FA next year so they’re probably getting his replacement now.
 
Corbin Burnes and the Diamondbacks have agreed to a six-year, $210 million deal, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
Wow. Heyman says the Burnes can opt out after two years. It sounded like Burnes and the Giants were a match, but it seems San Francisco couldn’t come up with the money. He’s a huge get for an Arizona team that is very well set in the rotation now with Burnes, Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Eduardo Rodriguez and Brandon Pfaadt. One wonders if the club might part with Gallen for offense, opening up a spot for Jordan Montgomery or Ryne Nelson.
 
I didn’t see Arizona going back to back for big money pitchers seeing how much regret they expressed over the Montgomery deal

If we havent done nothing by the middle/3rd week of January, it might be time to panic. I'll give him until then.

I could see AA trading for Monty, but i wouldnt love if thats our rotation additon given how up and done he was last year. Gallen would be interesting, but he has one year of control and believe he's Boras so wouldnt imagine you could extend him.

I think there’s quite a few more SP options available via trade, like Gray.

Profar could be a sneaky good addition in LF if those exit velocity gains turn out to be real. Kim could be a good fit at SS with Arica a viable backup plan while he continues to rehab.

There’s also still the possibility of another Sale or Kelenic trade coming from out of the blue. While Kelenic didn’t pan out, he was still an exciting gamble.

Unless they can swing a trade for a SS, I doubt we see a change there.

Monty would need to be a basically free upgrade. But still not sure he would be.

He’s a move, but not necessarily an upgrade
 
Unless something incredible just falls into our lap, I don’t see us upgrading LF outside of getting a RHH to face LHP. I think the FO is still hoping Kelenic will pan out and is going to run it back with him at least until Memorial Day.

I think if we were going to sign Kim we would’ve done it already. The only upgrades I see us making is getting another starter, another reliever (or two), and getting a RHH to platoon in LF. Maybe we get a utility infielder who has a chance to take over SS is Arcia falls on his face again. All of those moves will absolutely improve our team, even if the position player part of the puzzle isn’t sexy. I’m sure people will cry though.

Lmao...are people not allowed to cry and bytch if moves aren't made to our liking? It's Fandom. I think AA has left a little bit out there, but maybe he's got a bigger plan. Other teams have improved so it's OK to wonder if there are moved to be made.
