Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

How could anybody be excited about a 41 year old, very likely negative WAR, Justin Verlander?

This can't be real.

The guy who has the source from the medicals said the other player failed their medicals. So i dont think it'd be Verlander. Scott is fine, but thats not a 9 to 9.5 signing. Would need more obviously but good first move if it happens.

The only 9-9.5 signing that exists at this point would be Roki Sasaki, and that's not happening.

This guy may be right about us signing somebody, but I doubt this board will be too excited.

All this "9 to 9.5" talk is useless. One guy's rating means nothing to the next guy. The guy is either right about a signing today or not, but the rating part is crap.

I’d be ok with Verlander as a 4 or 5 depending on price of course. And there is no one left in FA that warrants anyone claiming it a 9 or 9.5.

But, much like this ‘new improved forum’ we’re supposed to get here 2 months ago, I think it’s all BS.

Has to be Scott, but didn’t he also say he hadn’t played in MLB yet?

If it is Scott that’s a good get, depending on contract of course.

If it’s Sasaki that’s a 10 for more reasons than just the talented arm. Opening up the pipeline to Japanese players is almost as valuable as the player itself.

This is what I mean about his takes. I don’t doubt the info, I doubt his take on the significance of the player.

We will see soon enough.

"I've wanted to pitch for the Braves ever since my idol Kenshin Kawakami-san wore the tomahawk across his chest.
