Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

This is shaping up to be the most disappointing offseason in modern Braves history. Even the bad years we at least got to look forward to new prospects.

It’s impossible to believe AA isn’t going to address the holes on the roster, but the moves almost have to come completely out of the blue now if they are going to be even remotely impactful.

Glad the Braves are not paying 2024 FA prices.. Just need to find the ones that want to sign for 1998 prices.. come AA, I know you can find one.

Sonny gray
Laureano
Tanner Scott

This would be a good finish (start)

that is a solid C maybe C-..

Gray replaces Mort
Ramon is a good bench bat that will most likely take over for the failed Kelenic experiment
Scott replaces JJ
Didn't address SS
Didn't address loss of Fried
Didn't add anything new to pen
Didn't address infield depth.

Sonny gray is projected to put up more fWAR than fried this season,

Talk about unrealistic. 2 quality SP. 2 elite RP. Replacing the LF and SS while adding bench depth. Ok guy.

Aren’t we basically at the point where Ian Anderson has to win the fifth starter’s job or be traded? I don’t think he can be optioned anymore?

The obvious holes were SS, LF, and starter... Starting pitching just lost 2 major contributors from last year and not one has been replaced.. sure, i doubt AA could do all those.. but maybe one of them would have been nice...

Scott would be a good add.. I would be happy if that happened.. but that plus Ramon and some Back end rotation is rather disappointing..... if it isn't to you..then happy for ya..

I guess most of you guys are just naturally assuming Strider is coming back as a stud next year. might want to look at how pitchers usually fare after major arm injuries. I am praying he will be the exception.. but not planning for him to struggle is a failure imo...

FWAR since 2021...
Charlie 9.7
Fried 13.9
Gray 14.1

yeah, I was about to comment on that.. .I can't remember what factors are used.. I would probably trust Fwar for a pitcher more because I think they use xstats more.. so I will say Gray is closer to Fried than Mort..

Funny how different those two projected stats are for pitchers.

It's all moot anyway bc we rolling with elder and AJSS with Waldrep as our new set up man

Strider is your Friend replacement. Literally any #5 will do to replace Morton. I don't really consider LF and SS to be that big of a hole. Expecting us to be the Dodgerse and have league average players as our 8 and 9 hitters are unrealistic with the amount of stars the offense has. Replacing JJ is a bigger concern than Arcia imo.
