Then you’re ignoring one of only 3 possible outcomes where we would end up with this land.
1) America attempts to purchase the land and is completely rebuffed, leading us to taking it by force, permanently damaging our reputation globally.
2) America makes Panama and Greenland a deal they can’t refuse[/i] and we coerce them to give us their land, permanently damaging our reputation globally.
3) America actually makes Panama and Greenland a deal they can’t refuse and we spend a bunch of money buying the land, which I could support if it makes fiscal sense and we have the support of the people in Greenland
Are you that dumb? I’m not worried about Denmark not liking us. I’m worried about the sovereignty of Denmark and its people, and whether or not that means the rest of Europe, India, Australia, South America, etc. can trust they won’t be next to have that happen to them, and what they would have to do to protect themselves as a result.
“We can’t trust our allies to keep our enemies away so we need to take their land” is a dark, dark path to go down and I won’t pretend otherwise.
Sorry, I guess I should be open to the idea that Donald Trump is just such a great businessman that he’ll get countries to give up their land to us just so that we can succeed. My bad for letting my TDS blind me to the possibility that taking other people’s land on a whim is good, actually.
Economic. Coercion. Is. Coercion. You don’t get to pretend someone is a snowflake for thinking we shouldn’t directly coerce our allies into giving up their land, especially since American consumers are the ones that suffer from economically coercing other countries.
Your problem seems to be that you’ve convinced yourself the United States is the protagonist of Planet Earth.
When is the last time Denmark has called on us to protect Greenland’s sovereignty?
For majority of the world is always had and will be. It’s just the leftists here who are aligned with the communists that think otherwise. Seems like Greenland has already been very welcoming to trumps overtures.
It will be amusing to revisit this when it gets done and you’re wrong yet again.
Again, I’m not counting on their Socialist PM who is leading an Independent Greenland movement to be as open to jumping on board with Trump’s plan as you seem to be.
You don’t think that us, a foreign power, invading Europe might change that calculus a bit?
I’ve already seen the extent to which you’re willing to move the goalposts, and it’s as far as “we can take what we want because the UK doesn’t have a First Amendment” so I’m sure if/when the time comes you’ll be very reasonable about what success looks like.
Again - jumping to invasion is just the same old rhetoric the left jumps to becuse of their TDS. Europe, and specially the new power guard that is coming to power, understands that a strong US is the only thing stopping complete globalist destabilization. Nobody will ever cozy up to China and the only reason Russia did it is because the west stupidly boxed them into a corner with crippling sanctions and military enroachement for 20 years.
The US is and always will be europes only option.
