They will drop to Oklahoma levels?
Indeed. California obsession with equity has drug them so far backwards
Until it happens, is it fair to ask what is Oklahoma's excuse. Not to pick on them. I could pick on 20 other similar states.
Oklahoma isn't privy to amazing land, Water, and weather, with republicans dutifully managing during its massive technology revolution in the 20th century
Oklahoma, California and NY had pretty much the same life expectancy in 1970. It aint the land, water and weather that changed to drive that lifespan differential against them.
Sure it is. People with means migrated to more desirable areas. Poorer people don't have that luxury
People with means also had more freedom to migrate before 1970. Try harder.

1970 was before Ronald Regan led a state through a technology business the boom the world had previously never seen. This republican led state created a juggernaut economy which created an environment of the whole country wanting to move to the state.
30 years of Dem leadership has undone this and now California is losing congresional seats at break neck speeds
That seems like a point that doesn’t necessarily say bad things about the blue states folks are leaving actually. That these states are providing the economic opportunity for its residents to make cross-country moves away from cities to more rural areas is a positive indicator, is it not?
The prevailing narrative is that Californians and New Yorkers are leaving en masse due to these states being misgoverned ****holes and red states being better, but that’s not typically accompanied by evidence, and it only considers the intentions of people comfortable enough to make that move in the first place. A software developer moving from SF to Oklahoma tells you very little about what it’s like to be a poor person in rural OK. I’d say it’s better at reinforcing that we have a class divide in this country and that being on the right side of that divide just tends to insulate you more from the effects of poor governance or quality of life in a given state.
Eh California was a beautiful place and booming and attracting huge migrations since before WWII. Brooklyn Dodgers moved to LA in 1958. Hewlett-Packard was founded in 1939. Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer was founded in Beverly Hills in 1924. Those two events are the closest thing to the birth of Silicon Valley and Hollywood as a motion picture capital. Gotta get those timelines down.
That kind of move raises the average IQ in both Oklahoma and California. Win-Win.
According to my friend grok
Here are the population growth rates for California by decade from 1940 to 2020, based on available data:

1950s: From 1950 to 1960, the population increased from 10.6 million to 15.7 million, indicating a growth rate of about 48.1%.
1960s: Between 1960 and 1970, the state's population rose to 19.9 million from 15.7 million, with a growth rate of around 26.7%.
1970s: From 1970 to 1980, the population increased from 19.9 million to 23.7 million, yielding a growth rate of about 19.1%.

Back to Sturg... Republicans lost control of California in the 90s...and wr know how this decade is going. So you tell me
Maybe if you asked Grok it would inform you that California had mostly Republican governors through 2011. But I guess that don't jive with the story you want to tell.
Do you also believe racial outcomes are based on IQ?
I'm not silly enough to believe Arnold represent republican values
But the real deteriorating event was losing the entire elected state government to a bunch of Marxist outfits the lady two decades.
See mayor Bass as a fine example
eh...it is not something i've given any thought to
