Bowman with our explanation on not signing Hoffman:

Per a source, Jeff Hoffman had a potential deal that was nixed when he failed a physical with the Braves’ medical staff. Hoffman also reportedly failed a physical with the Orioles before signing with the Blue Jays

Damn

Seems to vindicate that Ryan Cothran guy and his source. Was probably Hoffman rather than Verlander. We'll know if Scott signing is announced later in the week.

at least AA isnt totally asleep.

Looks like a potential bullet dodged with Hoffman.

We know the Braves had Scott's medicals, so if it's true AA was going to sign both Hoffman and Scott we can assume he was about to spend more than $25M for 2025. That means the notion of getting under the tax line is false.

Hopefully the Scott deal is done, and AA is just saving it for some weird quirk reason of his.

They name the Dodgers, Padres, Yankees and Rangers - in that order - as the likeliest to sign Sasaki. The title also suggests the Jays made it to the final decision round. Teams like the Dodgers and Padres are already having conversations with un-signed prospects about using their money for Sasaki.

It's obviously pure speculation, but most of those teams could figure into AA's offseason plans depending on the Sasaki decision. The Dodgers or Padres could have a SP to trade if they sign him. The Jays might decide to rebuild and trade Bichette if they don't get him. Any trade with the Twins for a pitcher or Correa would obviously be held up by the chance to get Cease or Bichette.

I expect a flood of deals after the 15th.

The current theory circulating is that he's going to trade some guys for international money but has to wait until the 15th to complete the trades and make the roster space available for the Scott signing to be official.

So AA is going to grab up some of the abandoned prospects, but can't make those trades for pool money until the 15th? And once the roster space is open he will have Scott and probably a couple other MLB trades fill those spots?

This could end up being worth the wait.

That is the working theory. I feel like it never winds up being that neat, but we'll see. Think I saw a confirmed report that the Mets met with Scott last week?

I'm just going to assume Hoffman was the 9.5 guy that dude was talking about and we aren't getting Scott.

He actually just said Hoffman wasn't one of the guys he was talking about.

I think it's been pretty clear since the start of this whole mess that the 9.5 guy is Scott.

He said a few minutes ago it was both Verlander and Hoffman that had deals nixed. I think he has also since implied that the Scott deal is still on and that he was the 9.5 he was talking about.

Edit: He said about 20 minutes ago the 9.5 is still in play.

Some guy on twitter with his name not handle AA is the mystery team. Just said it's gonna happen guys, same stuff that Ryan said. But feels like all hell will break loose on the 15th. It's not Sasaki but probably what others have said. We have deals in place to trade guys on the 40 but cant do it until Sasaki makes a decision.

Post was: If this info is real....
Then everything will make sense in a week.

If it isn't ... Then I look like Alex Jones.

Helluva look that is 😂

I think Sasaki signs immediately on the 15th as soon as he can and AA already has deals in place when he does. Gonna be interesting Wednesday and Thursday.

I mean that's the most logical. I just get pessimistic after waiting for something to happen.
