Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

While they couldn’t execute the trades until now, certainly they could have been lining the trades up over the last week or so. Reading now that the dodgers are just now trying to work trades for pool money.

They just started now? They didn’t know they would need more pool space last week when literally nothing was happening? Is it a league-wide goal to make baseball as boring as possible for as long as possible throughout the calendar year?

why wouldn't the Dodger$ not want to clog up free agency and trades.. Let teams think they have Saki and continue to make hand shake deals that will all get blown up and leaving a lot of teams and players suddenly scrambling to make plan B happen.

There is no downside for them even if no upside exists other than being a dick troll.

Signing Santander is about the only way the Braves could combat an all-time Dodgers rotation.

Ohtani-Yamamoto-Snell-Glasnow-Sasaki is literally 5 aces in their prime if they're healthy.

Sale-Strider-Cease-Lopez-Schwellenbach is very good but I think we'd need the offensive edge.

Did you just declare Yomo an ace after 90 innings and Saki an ace when he hasn't pitched a single pitch in the bigs..

I am not saying the Braves are better since they are propped up by injury prone starters now.. but I am not saying the Dodger$ have 5 aces when one isn't even signed yet.. Show-hey might not ever be as good as he was and Yomo is still an unknown and couldn't get through his first full season healthy.

The dodgers have injury concerns with their rotation also.

BTW, I really think the dodgers should put a restraining order on SJ.

Yeah.

Yamamoto is clearly an upper echelon pitcher. He posted a 2.61 FIP last year.

One of the best curveballs in the game with a solid fastball and splitter and he has great command (6% BB).

Sasaki is being billed as better than him and even Ohtani (as a pitcher) from the viewers/scouts of the Japanese league, and I see no reason to doubt it.

I'd still take the Braves. The Dodgers would have more injury concerns than we would.

they haven't officially signed Saki.. and I would never just assume a guy is an ace until he actually faces guys.. The league is very good at figuring guys out if they can..

Yomo, again has 90 innings.. He has a killer curve and average fastball and above average slider.. Again, I am not going to be shocked if the league doesn't start to pick up on his curve and just react to his FB... He reminds me of a Fried type pitcher.. very good pitcher, but I wouldn't call him an ace.. And again.. 90 innings.

This is why I caution folks about claiming Schwelly an ace.. I love his profile too.. but the league is a beast that can figure you out and if you can't adjust, then you will struggle.
 
Ohtani wasn't even an ace starter before TJ.

Health is a concern for both rotations. But the Braves have the 2 best starters of the group in Strider and Sale.

LOL, you are way overreacting here.

The Dodgers have a talented rotation. It's not close to all time. Yamamato is great. Glasnow is very good when he can stay healthy (which is never). Snell is on the wrong side of 30 and aside from 2 seasons in his career, he's never been an ace. And he's also injury prone. Ohtani is coming back from his 2nd TJS at age 30. That's it. Sasaki has a lot of potential but better Japanese pitchers than him have flopped.

Most likely, LA will in the market for a SP again come trade deadline, regardless if they get Sasaki or not.
