I agree despite IG and Meta trying already. That’s why the entity “tik tok” is so vakuable because it hasn’t been replicated yet when it should be easy to do.

Which is weird because Tik Tok was essentially a ripoff of Vine.

IMO, if they ban Tik Tok, there will be a replacement with mass market appeal in less than a year.

But TikTok currently has no reason to sell because it’s already become obvious that Americans will just (rightly) blame the US government for this and join whichever platform has the most Mandarin in its description on the App Store. What happens in 89 days when ByteDance just refuses to sell again?

I’ve been of the belief America was brainwashed for decades and I understand this could be construed as another form of brainwashing but tik tok was essential to trumps victory and could continue to be important in fixing the minds of Americas youth.

The game for Trump seems to be predicated on someone in his orbit being able to acquire TikTok and navigate it in a way friendly to him, which is politically smart. I just wonder how likely it is that ByteDance is willing to give him a second win in April if they determine he won’t reverse course on insisting upon a sale given how vulnerable American politicians are on this issue now.

By all means, Trump is not to blame for this. He was certainly a driving force for getting us here, but the Dems had the Senate and WH when it went down. So I’m not viewing this with an anti-Trump lens at all. But if he insists on the same outcome that didn’t work this month, I’m not sure why China would suddenly lose any of its leverage.

This is the problem with Trump. He doesn't have to deal with any backlash from his constituents. So he can do a bunch of stupid **** all the time to adoration of his base, who yesterday despised that idea.

His first act as President will be to disobey US law for the benefit of a CCP company, and any criticism of that gets dismissed by you as "hyperventilating "

Again - misleading posts without context as the whole premise is compelling a sale with no ccp control but you know details.

Trumps first action as president is preserving a product that Americans love. What an outrage but of course the same people who hyperventilate at anything Trump will continue to hyperventilate in all things Trump and never see things objectively.

It’s trying to thread a needle here and give Americans what they want (America first) and ensuring ccp no longer has control.

It can either blow up miserably or come out where everyone is happy (but the ccp).
