Ehh I doubt that. I agree that Trump as President is probably bad for China.
I’m just saying that that dance going viral had to have had an impact on Trump’s perception of the platform. Trump (a big sports fan) got to watch famous college and NFL players do his dance as end zone celebrations.

They are certainly giving him the opportunity to save it and be a hero to its young addicts. They currently have a callout on their blackout page thanking him for working to save it. Thats a political gift if I've ever seen one.
My prediction is there will be some sort of "deal" announced that masks as a divestment but in reality isn't. Tik Tok here to stay

I don’t know anyone on it or anyone that won’t be bothered by its loss.
Truly TT and a few of these others are contributing to young women harming themselves or contributing to their depression, so not sure a big deal overall

My prediction is whatever happens there will be a small loud group of people that will say it’s awful because Trump.
I will wait and see what happens and call calls and strikes.

Yep, Biden already said he wouldn’t enforce the fine and Trump is saying the same, but TikTok only seems to care about the latter and gave Trump the W. It’s pure political theater and it is entirely the fault of Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer for letting Trump eat their lunch by switching sides at the 11th hour. A bunch of House Republicans finally got their wish to ban TikTok because just enough Dems were either dumb enough to think Republicans would dig their heels in or SCOTUS would save their asses. Neither happened and they frankly deserve to watch Trump receive all the credit for undoing it.
A large portion of republicans are cutouts for the intelligence community who just wanted a means to control X since it was becoming far more influential than their MsM owned entities/anchors. They never cared about the ccp influence in global politics or how they have gutted the middle class

Yeah, the actual stated reasons were always bull****. If anybody believes TikTok had to be banned because your personal data is susceptible to falling into the hands of the Chinese government, they’re not doing any better than the people who moved to the Red Book and now believe China successfully built a Communist Utopia.
Again - without the hyperventilation this can still end up valid if the ccp is forced to divest.
But it’s good to see the usual suspect riling you up. Unfiltered boss is on a roll!
I’d argue this is less an issue of China’s continued attachment to TikTok and more to do with politicians thinking they can take a popular Chinese-owned company and force it to become a popular American-owned company, and some influential tech investors will be happy with them and give them money for re-election.
If you believe that the continued existence of an app in this country is a grave national security threat, you’d say **** those kids and tell them they can have it back when ByteDance sells. By capitulating and providing 90 more days to sell, you’re giving away the game. But that’s not a Trump issue, it’s a bipartisan cluster**** that Joe Biden signed into law.
Something we can all get behind.

I’m a bit surprised no one’s built a feasible US Tik Tok to fill that gap. I can’t imagine the technology would be that hard to replicate and with a Tik Tok ban there’s not really going to be a significant barrier to entry. Heck, Meta could spinoff the stories feature from Instagram. Or Google with its Shorts (Google’s algorithm is far superior to Tik Tok’s).
This is essentially what China does when they block US social media services. There’s a Chinese equivalent ready to go.
