Many American growers relocated to Mexico due to a shortage of field workers. They couldn't find enough campesinos to do the work here. I don't expect massive deportations. But to the extent deportations have any effect it will be to exacerbate the shortage of field workers. The laws of supply and demand are hard thangs.

If Trudeau had any balls he would randomly order an inspection of the oil and gas pipelines every few days.

Eh.

Not really. Most national ops just planted there because h2a labor rates rose and land was dirt cheap.

There are workers here. Most are not having any issues since h2a was implemented.

Once again- the stat still holds true less than 1% of illegals here work in Ag. 99% are in cities

If need more workers we can expand the guest worker programs.

It doesn't mean we just accept and keep millions of illegals.

But but but Canada is paying the tariff, not us? Right?

Part of the strategy is to unleash more energy production.

But if you want to evaulate after a couple of days I know thats what you like to do.

“ Hey man - if you think a 2 year analysis window yields all results from policy changes then cool.”

Even on a short window the Tariffs that are supposed to be crippling did nothing when coupled with Trumps total economic policies.

When you focus on a subset you'll always get the wrong conclusion.

Credit where credit is due to OMB. I am a fan of shutting down “de minimus” shipments from China. On the surface, that’s a really good policy.

The people running the show for Trump know what they are doing - Just like in term 1.

Just too many traitors slipped through the cracks the first term.

Exactly - You throw them all out and then fill as the country needs.

Forcibly deporting people who have been here for years learning a job and then bringing in waves of temporary labor that you have to train and could themselves run off and become new undocumented immigrants seems like a mighty complicated way to secure your nation’s border.

The traitors, by the way, that you can identify exclusively by asking whether or not the things they did were considered good in hindsight by Trump and his supporters.

No - Traitors like Milley / like Barr / like many others.

I want 10-15M deported - The ones who got here post 2020. Plenty of options.

They are all going home.

If you've been here for 10-20 years and have been a good Samaritan you get to stay. There weren't calls for mass deportations during Trump term 1. There's a reason for that.

Trump doesn't have a strategy or a plan.

If he had a plan he wouldn't be charging a tariff on canadain companies and goods. This is bullying and when it fails he'll claim victory. While average americans see their money disappearing and the executives get richer.

Canadians have canceled trips south of the border, boycotted U.S. alcohol and other products and even booed at sporting events after U.S. President Donald Trump announced 25% tariffs on most of Canada's goods on Saturday.

When all is said and done I suspect that spontaneous action by people in Canada and elsewhere will turn out to be among the most effective responses to Trump's tariffs.

Some of us in this country will make it a point to seek out and buy products from Canada, Mexico, Denmark, etc. Maybe take a vacation in one of those countries.

Hahahaha - this post will age so well.

Canada will capitulate before the summertime.

Sure they have ! That was fast!

He is just anti American. It is what it is.

Guy patted Canadians on the back for their border compared to ours and still doesn’t understand why it’s like that and what that means for Canadians “response” to the tariff. Funny thing is surveys already show a bunch of Canadian businesses are planning to move operations to the US.
