Helicopter/plane Crash over Potomac

A 2013 FAA document, “Controller Hiring by the Numbers,” raised the issue in stark terms, asking, “How much of a change in job performance is acceptable to achieve what diversity goals?”

Who controlled the government in 2013 again?

BEST AND BRIGHTEST!

"There hasn’t been a fatal airline crash in the United States since 2009, but it’s only a matter of time before the streak ends. "

This is patently false

Also you didn't mention

"After Congress forced the FAA to drop the quiz in 2018, many former applicants reapplied and have since become controllers"

The only people that don't think DEI is poison and contributory to these issues are the idealogues that still can't understand why America rejected them in November.

In this case, there is a chance that this was due to pilot error and had nothing to do with whomever was in the tower.

However, The DEI **** was a ticking timebomb that would eventually have caused a disaster.

Much like the LA fires, I think both sides are pretty off base on this one.

There is nothing that Trump did in 1 week that would have led to the accident. Certainly pointing to the hiring freeze as some sort of evidence is hilarious.

Similarly, there is no evidence at this time that DEI hires caused the accident, even indirectly.

Is there some reason why people think a hiring freeze would even have an affect 1 week later? Like who do you expect would have been hired in the last week that would have an affect on any of this?

It's Trump's fault.

MQT has to eat some more **** again.

Eh, fair enough. But I’m still calling bull**** on DEI being to blame for a crash when those same employees have been able to do more than they’re supposed to for the past 1.5 years. Sounds more like standard government inefficiency.

This *looks* to be pilot error from the helicopter but we'll see.

It probably wasn't 1 specific thing, but a combination of things that led to the disaster. Unless it was intentional, which there is no indication it was. Considering the plane was reportedly diverted just a few minutes prior, a kamikaze situation seems extremely unlikely.

People are hung on on the Heli pilot reportedly flying 200 ft over their limit. That sounds questionable indeed. But their on board computers/gauges may have malfunctioned and given that it was at night and flying over the water, it would be difficult to judge a distance of 200 ft (which is slightly more than half the distance of a football field). There are a lot of factors at play.

The poster goes on to say there's no direct evidence she was a lesbian, but it's a solid assumption

I'm sure she was super qualified - More DEI hires.

As I told Zito in the other thread, it's pretty disgusting for a civilian to trash the achievements of military personnel.

By all accounts, she was very bright and was an experienced pilot, passing all rigorous military flight testing and training. How about we put an end to this narrative?

Again - “accomplishments” are awarded. The incentive based system in place changes the weight of those “accomplishments”. Look at our distinguished five star generals that absolutely bungled the last four years. Maybe they weren’t that good in the first place. Agreed?

You’re conflating an approach to military strategy with basic task competency. I’m to believe she’s been doing just fine all this time but suddenly was too unqualified to even fly a helicopter whatsoever?

Military strategy is a task like anything else and our most 'decorated' officers failed miserably.

There is a reason for that.

Hegseth will run a better operation than those clowns.
