CF Harris

2B Albies

RF Kelenic

SS Arcia

C Tromp

A lot to like about the thought process behind this lineup construction. Highest projected OBP leading off, Albies behind a LHH, and decent L/R alternation. Albies sandwiched between 2 LHHs may allow him to take more PAs as a RHH. I’d like to see the LHHs split with 2 hitters between them, but this lineup looks like it was set by a competent baseball mind.

I wonder if they will split them more when Acuna returns. It will be interesting to see.

I hope AJ showcases that new cutter a good bit. I hope to see at least 4-5 pitches with it so we can get a decent read on it.

looks like there will be no statcast data on today's game... can't watch today.. so we need some eyeball analyst to give some updates if possible.

Really impressive two innings for AJSS with 3 K/0 BB. Up to 98, got whiffs on the changeup and slider too. Two bloop hits, nothing hit hard the entire outing.

AJSS is now the most interesting pitcher to follow in the organization once the statcast data starts rolling in. It would be huge if his arsenal was improved from his MLB debut and he becomes the next homegrown rotation fixture.

Worth noting the Pirates lineup is awful. Only one projected starter in it - Nick Gonzales. But AJSS dominated them.

This was by far the best I've ever seen AJSS. The changeup has to be one of the best pitches not only in our system but on our major league team. Obviously, results are important and the lineuo he's facing is ass, but everything looked really sharp. At this point, I think you slot him and Grant in the rotation until Spencer returns, then you can assess the results. But unless the Braves are extremely confident that he needs another year of seasoning, I think you let him loose and stop yo-yoing him

Elder looked really good in his short stint as well.

Gives us some things to watch during ST.

I am encouraged that guys seem to have made some progress since last year. Nothing is guaranteed, but glad they are working on stuff.

Agreed! Most of it is excitement that baseball is back and naive thoughts that Elder is actually going to be better, but I'll take it over no baseball.

In the first inning, I thought AJ was leaving his off-speed stuff too far over the plate and got away with it. But the change up to strike out Yorke was filthy. He also spotted his fastball very nicely and it appeared to have more movement than I recall seeing last year, but that may just be recency bias. His breaking stuff looked better in the 2nd inning.

The out to finish the 1st inning was smashed. Didn't see any data, but I imagine it was around 100mph EV or higher. But yeah, other than that I don't recall any hard hit balls.
