A few hours a day is a lot! Haha, but I totally get it.

I’m like you. Every couple of months, I tear apart one of my PCs and replace older components with something new. Then I sell the old one. It’s fun to go into the BIOS and overclock to see how much extra performance I can get out of them. It’s a total waste of time, but it takes all my focus. I’m in the middle of my career with two young kids, so the value of getting into a flow state is worth it. I also have a couple of mechanical keyboards, but I’m not as obsessed with that.

It’s been crazy to watch how much Nvidia has changed in the past 10 years. Ethereum miners totally destroyed the 30XX series GPUs, and now AI is doing the same to the 50XX series. I wouldn’t be surprised if they spin off their consumer GPU brand so they can focus on AI datacenters since that’s 90% of their revenue now.

Yeah, I hated that crypto miners crushed the 3000 series. Because IMO it was th elast great generation. You're right that AI is hurting the 5000 series, but also they're just plain old having issue.s THe 4000 series was just kind of clunky and sad. Like the 4090 taking all the power and not fitting into people's machines is all time silly design. Like you could only use it in a full case, not even a mid one. So silly.

I don't get hours every day, just some days (usually off days I don't have other things to do) and most of it honestly is switch playing because it's so easy to pick it up and just walk away from it. Also sometimes when my wife and I watch like brain rot TV or TV that actively watching it isn't that important (like when we watch Critical Role or Dimension 20) I'll pickup and play some Mario, DK, etc. I can't blend in smash or Zelda where I get wrapped up.

I also kind of sometimes do it with BG3 because I did everything. But that was my obsession for a year.

I have a gaming laptop I want to tinker with. Because I haven't done that yet.

The boycott will begin at midnight Friday and last for 24 hours. During this time, the organization encourages Americans not to buy anything — this includes gas, fast food, or shopping in-store or online at major retailers. If participants need to buy anything, they are encouraged to shop at local and small businesses. Essential items such as medicine, food and emergency supplies can still be bought.

I don't think people realize how little a day blip this time of year matters. First off you're hurting small businesses at the time of year they need the money. Q1 sucks for basically every sector. If you wanted this protest to mean something, then do it in Q4 do it on Black Friday. That's where it would be hit the hardest and what would hit the biggest companies the hardest.

But hurting Walmart's/Amazon's sales at a time of year they don't expect many sales isn't going to hurt them.

Not sure I agree with Elon here, though I understand what he’s saying conceptually. A loss in government “output” will ultimately have the same impact on the populace as a whole. Any Americans working at the DMV are earning paychecks and services are being rendered. There’s a much larger story to be told about how much of that is akin to the broken window fallacy and the fact that tax dollars and things like license fees are being regurgitated to pay these employees, but I’m skeptical that the average American won’t have the same general experience if the government contracts as it would if the private sector did.

Every deficit dollar is a commitment to stealing money in the future, mostly from people who are not even born. There is no representation for these people

To be clear. Neither party cares about this. But conservatives at least seem to be aware and will at least speak about it

I have never understood why liberals are such champions of stealing from children and hurting the poor more than anyone else with their spending demands

You suspect for the wrong reasons because when the economy turns around for the middle class (Median income will rise) because good jobs (magic wand) become available and the streets are safer Trump/MAGA will go into the 26 mid terms with massive tail wind.

Companies are plowing money into the US right now because of Trumps policies and the belief that he will turn the country around. That equates to good jobs for Americans and that alone will cascade down to all aspsects of AMerican life.
