FWIW, my favorite congressman Chip Roy voted in favor of this spending bill and I'm disappointed that he did. That doesn't mean that I can no longer like him, but in this case I think he's in the wrong.

He is literally blocking capital outlays and you guys are complaining. The Democrats hate this because they know Trump will identify and stop these types of things. Then when the American people see more and more of it it will be more palatable to cut spending.

But yes - The whole picture will show Trump is doing amazing.

However, he viewed this specific CR as a strategic tool to "keep the lights on" for President Trump, Elon Musk, and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to identify and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in federal spending. In a statement after the vote, Roy emphasized that the CR "effectively freeze spending levels for six more months" and provides "runway for the Trump Administration to continue its efforts to root out wasteful spending." He saw it as a way to avoid a massive omnibus bill or earmarks, which he and other conservatives typically oppose, while setting the stage for deeper cuts in the FY26 budget cycle.

Yes - Chip Roy understands what the Trump admin is doing.

Problem is when you get all your news from the former defuncted RDS influencer army that is just a collection of TDS riddled financial interests you never see the big picture. And thats why you will always be wrong listening to this crowd.

Voting no on 2 trillion deficit spending is not "screaming about principles".

For Chip Roy's sake, I hope he's right that they pass spending cuts. I expect the can to be kicked once again down the road. I'll eat the healthiest portion of crow that you can serve me if cuts happen and do so with a smile on my face.

Its all about leverage with congressman and the way you leverage them is winning over the people.

This is a massive PR campaign and when this 6 month period is over and there is a surplus off of the original appropriated funds because DOGE identifies all the stupid spending that provides no value ot the American people the sell on a reduced spending bill is easy.

This is a leviathan that can't just be cut off in one day.

But yes - voting no and not seeing the long term plan to actually address what will drive this nation into the ground is 'screaming about principles' while not advancing your principles at all.

But I don't want to see any of these congressmen and women get all horny over DOGE cuts when they need to be "won over" to pass a bill despite a majority and a public mandate.

Good on Massie for not needing to be convinced on doing the right thing.

Congress absolutely sucks because many of these monsters are the ones benefitting from wasteful spending. But the American people are mostly oblivious as to what is going on so the talking point of "CUTTING SOCIAL SECURITY" etc... is what will drive them to not make reduced spending a priority. That is why the work of DOGE needed to continue and Trump will show at the end of this 6 month period a huge surplus while all services to Americans that make lives better continue on.
 
I think the easiest way to cut out fraud and waste to not authorize the spending.

but instead lets rack up more debt and hope to figure it out anyway

Good luck getting congress together to draft this in the short amount of time left (thanks to terrible republicans and of cousre Democrats).

Again - Real world versus fake world.

Chip Roy showing he lives in the real world. Massie/Paul showing they live in a fake world.

But as I said - When 26 rolls around with a significant reduction in spending and a roaring economy it will be fun to go back to these last few days.

Republican obstructionists have to be done away with. Chip Roy is just another ambitious guy, with no talent. I hope some talented challengers are getting ready in the Great State of Texas to go after Chip in the Primary. He won’t have a chance!”
