2025 Spring Training Thread

looks like the Pilar experiment is over.. he was sent back to the fish.. although, he wasn't horrible this spring outside of his 'start' game.. but I am sure the inputs on his pitches were the determining factor..

Robertson would be a big get but with the rumored demands that ain't happening. AA should have a good bit of money at the deadline for moves.

Robertson is currently #71 on the all time saves list. I seriously doubt he is holding out for the opportunity to move into the #50 slot.

He had a subpar spring, but Grissom was traded to pretty much the wrong team for his future. Two Top-25 prospects who play the IF (although Campbell may end up in the OF) who are bordering on big-league ready and then the Red Sox sign Bregman. Add to that they are still paying Trevor Story a ton of doughski. The key for guys like Grissom is the ability to at least stand at SS occasionally and do a semblance of the job. We've seen that that's an issue with him. It's too early to tell on Alvarez, but it's the same fear I have about him.

Alvarez is a worse version of Grissom, and Grissom is very obviously not even good enough to be a utility player. Exit velocity data is almost never wrong, and guys who can’t hit the ball with authority can not play at the MLB level.

Now that ABS is in play and almost perfect, I see no reason for umpires to exist. Let catchers call balls and strikes, and allow hitters to challenge strike calls. Almost all plays in the field are obvious to the players, and any close calls can go to replay.

There is literally no reason to employ these buffoons any longer.

Why no Lopez? Been a minute

Probably shoulder issues like he dealt with last year. It should not come as a surprise, and should have been accounted for during the offseason. The Braves are likely to have exactly 2 actual MLB SPs to start the season.
