Profar Suspended 80 Games

Just saw this wow. That trade makes sense now from today. This hurts big time with Acuna out. I wonder if the contract has any clause that can be voided.

I'm sure he'll get a real warm welcome from the fans his first game back. Also he sucked until last year and now we all know that was just PEDs. So the Braves get left with 2.5 years of an absolute bull**** contract.

I'm probably missing a lot about PEDs and for cause contract terminations, so I'll just ask: what do we know about that?

Wonder if this is why he remained unsigned so long into the offseason. Maybe other GMs were wary he may be on the juice what with his numbers increasing so substantially last year. What an a-hole.

So, if the Braves make the playoffs, Profar would be ineligible to be on the roster.

Kind of an odd rule that only punishes the team when the player has a large financial commitment that can't just be eaten by releasing him. Unless we have the option to keep him off the roster and just pay him not to return?

Hypothetically, there's no reason for Profar to steal anyone's ABs that we'd be relying on in the playoffs. So from game 85-162, he's a completely wasted roster spot, unless his performance makes the difference in qualifying/seeding. He gets paid the next 2.5 years regardless and has no shot at another meaningful contract, so he'll probably half-ass. What a land mine.
