We're Snakebit

Drake Baldwin had 4 PAs. He walked once and had EVs of 98.7, 100.4, and 102.1. He went 0-3.

The Braves had 9 of the 12 hardest hit balls in that game and were out hit 5-3.

Snakebit.

We've been saying this for a year now. At some point, we have to realize that even though we're hitting the ball well, we're hitting it right where they play us at.

If the rest of the league has a crystal ball, why don’t we have one? Cheap out on that too.

I understand defensive positioning based on where a player normally hits the ball, but that doesn’t explain 100+ mph line drives right at fielders or having great defensive plays made on us every. single. time.

Expected w/l is 1-5. I'm not buying this is the universe working against us. They're 0-6 bc that's pretty much the level they've played at

Well, yeah. Expected W/L is based on runs scored vs runs allowed. When you’re not scoring runs, you’re not going to expected to win many games. What it doesn’t tell you is why they’re not scoring those runs. It’s combination of terrible luck and half the lineup being AAA players.

Update:

Our BABIP actually dropped, which I didn't think was possible. We're dead last in the league with a BABIP of .178. Next lowest is the Mets at .193 no other team is under .200.

BABIP with runners on is .087.

BABIP with men in scoring position is .045.

No other team is under .100 for either of those.

We're not playing great. But there's no denying our luck has been unbelievably bad.

What did this guy do to get traded to us ????

Braves acquired RHP Michael Petersen from the Angels for cash considerations.
Petersen will head to Triple-A Gwinnett as extra relief depth for the Braves. The 30-year-old righty made 16 relief appearances last year between the Dodgers and Marlins.

No idea. It's on the At Bat app in the standings

That'll be pythagorean which goes by runs scored vs runs allowed. It can be heavily affected by bad luck over a SSS.

Just normalizing our luck with RISP alone gives us another 8-10 runs which would totally change that expected w/l.

Something I haven’t seen mentioned, but opening the season with the notoriously tough west coast road trip did not do the Braves any favors.

I know the team has not been even competitive, but I have to believe that getting back home will help.

It's a perfect storm.

West coast trip to start the season, bad luck of biblical proportions, injuries, suspension, poor leadership, minimal intensity, etc.

Every possible thing that could go wrong has gone wrong. Some of it is no one's fault (e.g. BABIP) but some of it is definitely the fault of AA and the coaches.

Fire everyone, trade everyone with value, start from the ground up. Shake this team like an etch-e-sketch.

I agree. Blow it up

We will be in first place and bitching about how we are having to chase down the Dodgers for the number one seed because we started off 0-7….
