3.1 Trillion lost today.

I'm guessing the goal is to repeal this in like 2 weeks then when it's repealed claim that the amount gained is a sign of a strong economy.

The 31 million wealthy Madagascarians could increase their consumption of American goods so they stop taking advantage of the 350 million desolate Americans.

I think even Trump supporters understand this. But this is what they signed up for. I am rooting for big tariffs on purely pedagogical grounds. It is important that I acknowledge I was wrong in thinking this would be bluster.

On the bright side, my wish for big tariffs on pedagogical grounds has been granted.

Is it too much to also wish for 5% of the labor force to be also deported.

Tariffs should be used in one of 3 scenarios
1. A country starts a trade war (like we just did) and discourages purchasing of our goods.
2. An actual war.
3. As a means to stop people who're actually devaluing their currency. Which is not what Trump did.

No idea. I don't pretend to know what's best for our country. I do feel the path we've been on that's led to 30 whatever trillion in debt isn't good, so I will welcome any deviation from the normal. This may speed up the inevitable fall of our country, or hopefully it reverse the course. Doing the same certainly will led to a crash though.

Except we have a remarkably successful and prosperous country. At the apex of all other countries. And at the apex of all countries throughout all of history. And at the apex of our own history. It is amazing that you and so many others have deluded yourselves into thinking we are on disastrous course that makes any deviation from course desirable. It is ok to favor change. But we should be picky about exactly what that change consists of. Precisely because we have an amazing country where lots of amazingly good things happen.
 
I love this country, but our endless spending (Trump helps with this) and our all-the-sudden hating our brothers bc of politics will destroy us.

Trump's vision of America first is very appealing to me, but I certainly don't know if he has a good plan to reach that vision.
