Economics Thread

They've been unfilled for quite some time. You are free to quit you excel job and live the american dream in the factory if you want to help the supposed "problem"

This is amusing because I never said everyone should work in manufacturing.

Whats your solution for Americans that aren't predisposed to STEM related fields?

Sucks for them? Thats ok to do but not ok for dropshippers that are going out of business?

Convenient.

Small business owners who were given NO TIME to transition are not going to care that their eggs are a little cheaper.

And I guarantee more Americans are benefitting from cheaper gas/groceries than small businesses 100% reliant on China.

Short term disruptions - Nobody will be thinking about this when the economy turns and you know that.

But the people that want the status quo will push this for a while - until they don't when its not relevant any longer.
My favorite thing about arguing with thethe

Clear, indisputable data right in front of our face?

"Short term disruptions. Won't matter when we get the GOLDEN AGE eventually then everyone will be thrilled."

How mean how do you argue with this?

Can you point to when I said that there wouldn't be short term disruptions?

I always expected this to happen. You can't unwind decades of globalization and consolidation without ramifications.

If we can't fill the manufacturing jobs that have been available for years why do we want so many more?

I suppose its possible that the economy will be so wrecked it will be the only option at that point.

You know what you can't make up?

Someone who says everyone is communist but refuses to change the nature of hte trading relationship with the CCP.

Can't make it up....

Cna you tell me what a 'wrecked' economy looks like?

What are you expecting to see?

Yes every day you run on here posting some tweet of a headline or an announcement and take a victory lap that your stupid policy is working.

But then dismiss literally every other data point to shows the opposite "short term disruption... gonna be rocky... wait til the golden age"

Yes - They are short term disruptions.

And you continue to dig deeper and deeper for when 26 rolls around and we have more free trade witht he world while CCP is further isolated.

You are 'winning' now only because you live in the short term.

Why are we negotiating with evil CCP.

Slap the embargo on

If I had my way - 100%.

Chinese people are innocent though so it would be great if we could minimize pain on them as well.

But again, you know something is broken but you just don't want to fix it. FREE TRADE!

Yeah product shortages, empty shelves. Corps not holding off investment decisions. Layoffs. Higher unemployment, etc.

When you and get laid off we can go work at the sneaker factory being built down the road

(Please spare us the post about how your skills are so amazing that there is no chance of being laid off)

Yes the system is broken

The solution is remove the thumb of government altogether

Nobody is irreplaceable - Thats the nature of corporate America.

I feel confident in my skills so not worried.

But can you be more specific. When will product shortages happen? WHat products? How many layoffs will we see? Where will unemployment go?

BE SPECIFIC!

So more free trade equals what? Should we expect higher imports in 2026 than we did in 2024?

Im still waiting to hear why we can't fill the manufacturing jobs available today.

Decades of messaging saying these aren't good jobs. Must go to college. Must sit in a cubacle.

Making econmics of manufacturing so difficult you can't pay enough to entice younger people.

You expect the system to change overnight.
