Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

Again / it’s not even close to the same thing. It’s just embarrassing that you are bringing this up.

The concessions for Canada and Mexico is reducing China influence there as well as the reverse opium war. China hasn’t exported whole industries to bypass tariffs and other import duties.
Yes we needed to tarrif Canada bc fetanyl at the border and they get that from China. It's all about China. But we will ease up on them soon

And we need to tarrif europe bc they are shutting us out of some industries. Not fair! But actually it's all about china..you've always said that afterall. Any we will remove these tarrifs soon after some sort of concession and no longer punish them bc they are exempt from the China punishment too.

A unified front against China is better no?

But I suppose the status quo would be best.

I’m going to be perfectly honest, while I think countries should always work together to find ways to reduce trade barriers in mutually beneficial ways, I don’t care all that much if we can’t get into certain markets. If another country wants to make things marginally worse for their citizens and that results in their citizens not having a demand for our goods, that’s unfortunate but ultimately their prerogative. Going the trade war route is so dumb because it just invites more barriers. But I don’t think the US has some mandate to be in every market at whichever rate we desire.

Europe's VAT taxes aren't giving them an unfair international trading position. IDK where you guys studied economics, but maybe stop going around calling people "uninformed" or "clowns." Good grief...

It sure as hell does. We pay 20%+ if we do business with them.

In theory they do as well but they subsidize their industry with rebates while hitting the people exporting to them hard.

This also ignores the compliance charges that effectively price out smaller foreign entities. The last org I worked for had to create a shell company just to set up a representative to be eligible. Fortunately for us we wee a big boy.

I don’t think we should be in the expansion business, but rights to certain resources in exchange for like saving Denmark from Russia or something, sure whatever.

The expansion business of facilitating the defense of said nations. At least you’re getting it now.

If memory serves you were very recently arguing in favor of price controls on private business, and today you're slurping tarrifs.

You, AOC, and Bernie are aligned on those topics

Because high interest rates can be quite dangerous for our economy. That's why we also have safeguards for our stock market as well. I guess that's leftist and communism as well.

Dude, the left are attacking Trump's tariffs too. MQT and BL hate them.

You're in economic solidarity with the leftists on the board and most of the democrat party.

You're a leftist 🤣

That's reassuring.

What are they waiting for?

International trade deals don’t happen overnight. Even beteeen two willing parties. Each nation needs to look out for their best interests.

Do your sales deals happen overnight?

My position is rather simple: I believe decisions regarding the sovereignty of a population should only be made by that population. We should not be purchasing the people of Greenland. If Greenland were to vote to join the United States and we agreed to a purchase with Denmark then I would have no moral opposition. If we took it as a payment for war, that would violate the sovereignty of the citizens of Greenland.

Right now their sovereignty is not theirs. It should be though.

Can you tell me where this country is had Trump never ran for office?

I agree. Denmark should absolutely provide Greenland its freedom. It admittedly gets a little trickier on the “what if the citizens want to bail?” part but this one feels pretty clear to me.

Unlike you and your fellow cultists, a political idiology is not centered around people, but ideas, policies, and principles

Price controls are a tyrannical socialist ideaoligy. But Trump likes them and now you do too. You're aligned beautifully with the lifelong liberal
