EDIT: Fellow mods, let's not sticky this thread. This team doesn't deserve to have their GDT at the top of the site until they prove they can win a game. -Cy

Mind blowing that Pena is on the bench and Uggla is back in there.

Actually it's really not surprising.

Its a joke. But not surprising as you said. I think Frank is going to have to do the dirty work for Fredi and release Dan. This whole saga reflects very badly on Fredi.

It now seems like the front office is putting some sort of pressure on Fredi to play Uggla as often as possible, hoping that some team will see something in him. The Braves simply releasing a player with that type of money owed is well, unprecedented -- and this is really the only explanation that I can conjure up as to why he's still playing (aside from sheer idiocy).

I do have faith the situation will resolve itself in short order, expedited by the Braves recent poor play.

He doesn't need to be released. He can be on the bench, then DLed with the slightest injury.

My read is the opposite. Fredi is the one who is afraid of upsetting his little brother.

I highly doubt Uggla would go that gently into the good night.

I understand how competitive he is and all that. But he needs to be able to put the team first and accept that its best interests would be served by him spending more time on the bench.

If that's true (and I suppose on some level it could be) then I would quickly realign myself as an advocate for Fredi's dismissal.

I've always thought Gonzalez was a strong, silent type of leader -- but this would indicate a sheer lack of backbone.
