Economics Thread

Nope you're not reading. What I'm saying is if I can either spend 10K on a berkel or 3K on a comparable chinese product hat's got some issues, because I can buy more of them when they shit the bed instead of buying a product that will last decades and be repairable. Passing the costs to consumer on a product like this isn'ta problem. But if I'm running a retail shop and a shirt moved from 15 dollars to 18 dollars. My options are to increase prices to keep my profitibility or stop carrying that prodcut or be less profitable. None of those are good for business.

That is your right as a consumer to determine what is best for your business.

We dont' need humanoid robots for assmbly. We need specialized robots to do things. If you're talking about iphones you would have a phone assembly machine that is tweaked by the manufacturer for specific phones. A humanoid robot is a giant waste of product for something simplistic.

Again, the cost is not comparable. I'm fine with planning for things. I don't care about that. Tariffs have fuck all to do with that. Make government grants or make it a government project if that's your concern. Tanking american economy because of future planning is stupid.

You need humanoid robots to assist with the constructure of plants - But of course all manufacturing will be specialized for their specific purpose.

There is no tanking of the American economy. Literally nothing in the data shows that.

Why do we need humanoid robots to assist with building plants? Human contractors are more than capable of doing that. Humanoid robots have uses but aren't really needed. And the fact you're focusin on it makes me realize just how out of touch you are.

Speed of construction - Reduction in costs.

All into the economics of profitability.

I used humanoid robots as an example of how fast the technology is advancing to counter your idea that we are far away.

We are in fact not far away and Trump and team are rightly planning now to be ready for it once it becomes the reality.

No - I am saying if your decision is to that then its your right.

But dont' act like an increase of 500-1000 dollars is whats driving that decision.
An increase of 500-1000 dollars is fucking massive. Especially if you're a small business.

Again, you really hate american companies and companies from our allies like Japan, Germany, etc. you really hate them and love Chinese companies.

Ok give me a timeline. How close are we so I can point and laugh when your'e wrong.

man I remember when you chastised me for saying a healthy heathcare system would mean someone pays $100 for their broken arm and goes on with their day, lecturing me that ALL Americans can't afford that!!

AGAIN - You are the one saying it was these increases that were prompting you to use a cheap chinese counterpart but already made the decision to spend significantly more (which now seems highly doubtful in hindsight).

But if you were already willing to spend 2.5-3X the cost of a cheap counterpart I suspect you would still have spent 2.7-3.2X that same counterpart and then increase your meal costs by pennies to recover teh costs within 6 monhts.

Trumps signature economic policies (covid and tarrifs) were to invoke as much carnage on small businesses as humanly possible

But Nvidia and Walmart are doing ok

To what? Total automation of manufacturing? Partial?

I would say that we will have material automation (>50% of current) being done via automation within 2-3 years. New jobs will be created as a result to work with this new world and those need to be in America. The cost of running this automation will be cheaper in America as well.

ANd when I have to spend 10 more dollars to buy something necessary to run my business, I'm supposed to eat that instead of passing that along to the consumer?

Again, big business like walmart won't balk at something like a Yeti Tumbler going from 10 to 11 dollars because they sell it on volume, they just won't price break it. Same thing with a big grocery store, they can just not run sales. It's the mom and pops who already are running on margins thinner than they want.

IN the case of what I'm talking about you're going to see people instead of buying a Berkel slicer, hobart mixer or True Regerator, they'll buy the cheap chinese product Avantco. Instead of buying GE lightbulbs they'll but the Chinese knockoffs. Instead of a Samsung they'll buy a Huwai (sp)
Then:

Dem platform: Raise the minimum wage! All the corporate greed! It shouldn't increase prices! Owners should eat the difference!

Republicans: let the market decide what to pay for goods and employees based on qualifications and let business owners run their operations how they want

Now:

Dem platform: the price of eggs! The not yet increased costs are killing consumers! The markets!

Republicans: Let the market decide what to pay for goods and employees and what to charge and let business owners operate how they want

republicans are absolutely not saying to let the market decide. they are saying let Trump decide

So what's the current benchmark so we can know. How much products are currently being produced by robotic automation.

Dem platform: Let's protect the american worker

Republicans platform - Fuck the american worker they can either buy the cheap chinese shit or go without.

Didn’t you just get mad at the govt for doing an illegal sweep and a kitchen using nothing but illegals they shut it down just in case?

Pick a side bro - illegal worker is the same thing as cheap Chinese shit in that scenario

lol zito

I wasn't mad, I think it's funny that a Trump donor had his restaurants shut down because he/his managers were hiring illegals.

The fact you think I was mad goes to show how sensitive you are.

I do think it's important to have migrant workers though. Not illegals mind you but legal ones. Who should be brought in to do the work.

American worker is protected by the tariffs because more jobs come about as a result. We are seeing that already with all investment decisions being released.
