GDT #32: Cardinals @ Braves (May 6, 2014)

What's it called when you've scored more runs than the other team when you are done playing? I seem to have forgotten what that phenomenon is called.

Any other team it's called winning. But since our team is managed by Fredi it's called not losing.

-Board Curmudgeons.

The contract is on Wren, makes it hard to find a replacement. No doubt.
But at this point La Stella and Pastor are better options for the simple fact that, even if they don't hit, they aren't inept defensively and fundamentally like Uggla.

Agreed. But if you are in a management position, it must simply be too hard to sit an expensive piece. I'd be elated never to see Dan again. Pastornicky is a young, hungry player, wish we could just hand him the job and see what happens.

Here we go, Uggla and Laird to AZ for Prado. That should do it.

Part of me would have laughed so hard if Kimbrel had given up a run, and some of you still tried to defend Fredi's managing in the bottom of the 8th.

Cue all the people bitching about Prado's OPS or whatever.

See the Milwaukee Brewers, Rickie Weeks and Scooter Gennett.

I can guarantee you he's not as hungry as Laird.

It will be interesting. One option--not suggesting this--would be Wood to the bullpen seeing the uneven performance of Avilan and Thomas' coming up short.

Yeah, I think that's what they're going to do. Coincindentally, Wood is scheduled to start again Sunday, which would be the perfect amount of time for Gavin Floyd to come back and start. That coupled with the need for a second lefty in the bullpen and wanting to limit Wood's inning makes the move logical.

I don't know how many others are in a similar situation but I live in the Cardinals broadcast footprint so I'm forced to watch their games against the Braves on their regional Fox sports network rather than Atlanta's.

On the plus side their broadcasters are knowledgable. However, I've never listened to a more smug, condescending, and arrogant group in my life. Maybe if we had their postseason success, we'd be the same way but, as it is, it's just annoying.
