Yes. It looks like Fredi is indeed doing some mixing and matching at second. Hopefully Pastornicky will be getting some games too.

I like tonight's lineup.

The pitcher batting 8th experiment sure didn't last long.

Looks like Uggla is now in a platoon with Pena, and when he can't handle hitting LHers he will be replaced in the platoon by Pastor. I think Fredi is slowly phasing him out. Not a bad idea when dealing with a veteran regular. Now Fredi can say, "Look, we gave you 100 ABs and you didn't produce. Then we stuck you in a part time role for a month and you didn't produce. So now you're gone".

Fredi on the matchup with Wainwright: "When you have good pitching, and not good hitting its better than good hitting with no pitching. In that case good pitching beats good pitching, unless you can't score runs so hitting beats good pitching. That's where we are at as a team right now."

Fredi on sitting Uggla: "Danny's our second baseman, now, next year, and in the future, I will just put it as that. He's in a little funk right now, but we know what he's capable of, what he can do. I look forward to putting him in the lineup another 120 times or so this year"

DoB and Bowman both have Pena batting 9th. Niners just didn't put it in there correctly.

Edit: Tv beat me to it.

Win or lose a pending investigation in to this matter will likely result in a 1 series suspension for GDT creation.

The transgression should be overlooked if we win. I believe this is the overriding rule of GDT creation. Just win baby.

Pena might be worse offensively than Uggla. I'd prefer we go with Pastor if it's not going to be TLS. Pena really stinks. Pastor is nothing to write home about either, but at least I'm not positive he's terrible.

Can we put Johnson at second base and let Schafer play some third? I really want to see a lefty third baseman.

Marlins have shut out Mets for second straight day. When do they have a long road trip so they can go away?

I just threw up a little bit.

Pena might stink going forward. But during his two seasons with the Braves, he has put up OPS of .773 and .814 (small samples both seasons to be sure). That is not my definition of stinking.

Looking at 130 ABs is not something I personally judge players on.
If that were the case, Charlie Blackmon for MVP.

Sure, the sample size is small. I usually don't take a change in performance seriously until it has been sustained for 400 or so at bats. I've talked about Pena in other threads. Maybe I have a weak spot for him. But he looks to be a much stronger hitter to me now than he was with the Yankees. Not that I saw him a lot when he was the Yankees. We'll see.
