Why Academics Leftists and Elitists Need to Treat Ordinary Americans With Respect

this idiot is actually fighting for a coercive, oppressive healthcare system that reduces the quality of outcomes for everyone and raises costs on almost everyone

**** him
He’s also now schilling for Gaza as a Jewish man.

Amazing stuff

No one has any room to call anyone in politics anything but a panhandler

Fucking dumb, though I would point out that this is a an immensely fringe and small faction within an already fringe party, so you’re really just relaying the opinions of a group of obvious idiots.
I asked Grok it's estimate on how many college students and recent grads are sympathetic to socialist ideas

My Estimate
Considering the data, I’d estimate:
  • College Attendees: 35–40% are sympathetic to socialist ideas, with sympathy higher among social science majors and lower among business or STEM majors.
  • Recent Graduates (<3 years): 40–50% are sympathetic, reflecting slightly higher support due to real-world economic challenges post-graduation.

Socialist ideas include things like “hey, the government could use our taxes to pay for healthcare” which is shockingly more prevalent amongst the type of people who have a passion for the social sciences. That alone isn’t really an indicator of much, and it’s a far cry from a group of self-declared Maoists celebrating political violence.

here is the available data it used... seems pretty clear its about the ideology

Available Data
Several studies and polls from the late 2010s to early 2020s provide insight into U.S. college students’ and young adults’ attitudes toward socialism:
  1. 2019 College Pulse Poll:
    • A survey of over 10,000 U.S. college undergraduates found that 39% had a favorable or positive view of socialism, while 39% had an unfavorable view, and 18% were unsure. This suggests a roughly even split among college students, with a significant portion open to socialist ideas. The poll noted that students in social sciences (e.g., philosophy, sociology) were more likely to view socialism favorably (up to 78% for philosophy majors), while those in finance or economics were less likely to support it.
  2. 2021 Newsweek Survey:
    • A survey of 1,000 college students across 71 U.S. colleges found that 32% had a positive view of socialism, compared to 24% for capitalism. The study highlighted that students’ understanding of socialism often leaned toward redistribution policies (e.g., wealth taxes, universal healthcare) rather than state-controlled economies. For instance, 58% defined socialism as a system with government intervention to ensure fairness, and 45% of those students viewed it positively.
  3. 2020 Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation/YouGov Poll:
    • This poll focused on Gen Z (ages 16–23, including college students and recent graduates) and found that 49% supported socialism in 2020, up from 40% in 2019. This increase was attributed to economic uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic. The poll didn’t isolate recent graduates but included young adults in the age range likely to be within 3 years of college.
  4. 2019 Gallup Poll:
    • Among young adults (18–29, encompassing college students and recent graduates), 51% viewed socialism positively, while 45% viewed capitalism positively. This was a notable shift from 2010, when 68% of young adults favored capitalism. The poll didn’t break down college attendees vs. recent graduates but suggests broad sympathy for socialism among younger cohorts.
  5. 2018 YouGov Survey:
    • This survey reported that 35% of young adults under 30 (including college students and recent graduates) were favorably inclined toward socialism, with only 26% holding unfavorable views. The survey emphasized that younger people often associate socialism with social benefits (e.g., free healthcare, education) rather than Soviet-style systems.

To be fair, MAGA now believes in Socialism too, but they’d not fall into that category on a poll. It’s almost as if people are just kind of dumb.

It ain’t good data, and quite frankly keeping your head in the sand about what’s happening on college campuses lately is being intentionally obtuse

According to our academic... it's bc Trump is sending ICE to enforce the immigration laws

Skip college, kiddos

No, looting a Zara has nothing to do with protesting ICE and those that did it should be charged with theft.

While we’re on the subject though, I’d be curious to explore the overall crime data during these protests vs. when there isn’t a riot. I’m absolutely not suggesting there won’t be an increase, but I’ve recently found myself wondering how much non-riot related crime drops in these cities. People steal from Zara and other stores every day, regardless of whether or not there’s a riot taking place and these cities have a *lot* of people. How much is certain crime just being centralized rather than increased?

I'd like to get beyond "looting should be penalized" and discuss why all these activists have the desire and seemingly protection to engage in looting at all these "protests"

Leftism seems to be a breeding ground for this chaos
