2025 Around The League Thread

Kind of going back to the potential sale of the Rays, but how is hardly anyone questioning the Marlins future? That is the weirdest franchise. They have two World Series titles which was followed either right after or not long after, the sell off of players. They hardly get any big home crowd fan support in what is still a fairly new ballpark. Once they have a player that reaches All Star level, he gets traded. JT Realmuto, Christian Yelich, and Giancarlo Stanton the big examples.

Their ownership situation has been a joke for a while now. Not even Jeter was able to help. I’m guessing, though I don’t know the terms of a lease, is the reason there has been little talk of the Marlins future in Miami.

I feel like as well the Marlins franchise was also affected by the death of Jose Fernandez. That could have been a guy the franchise could market and build around. A big “what might have been”.

I just looked at their roster. Man, that was a quick window.

Seriously doubt they trade Henderson though. And I doubt we have the pieces to get him.
Yeah I was shocked when I looked. I thought they were gonna have a long run but it's almost shut already. Henderson is one of the only players I'd trade Caminiti for. It would take more obviously but he'd be the SS for the next 10 years.

Miguel Cabrera and Ozuna also.

Man, hard to believe it's been nearly 9 years since he died. Terrible loss for the sport.

If they feel their window is closing fast or already closed then now is the perfect time to trade Henderson for a haul. 3.5 seasons of control left and will hit arbitration this winter which I assume will be a massive pay increase.

I wonder if Jackson Holliday couldn't be pried away. The luster has certainly worn off a bit, but I assume he is still good enough to play SS.

Yeah he only moved bc of Henderson. The O's tried to extend Henderson this past offseason but he balked. They may keep Holliday for insurance

Doing so to set up Schwellenbach, Sale and Strider for the Mets again. Not sure who the 4th pitcher will be to face the Mets. Elder?

It will also, at this time, set up Holmes, Schwellenbach and Sale to face the Phillies before Strider pitches game 1 against the Angels.
