I think the motivation behind price increases is stopped in anti-foreigner rather than stooped in any economic rational. This is a devil is in the details sort of deal, and it won’t be an issue if the changes are modest, but this is pretty much a textbook case of an elected official meddling with the equilibrium of supply and demand. If it’s a small enough amount to increase total revenue, then cheers. But color me skeptical.
This isn’t one of the cases where I’m opposing Trump on moral grounds. I just hope we don’t go rah, rah Americans so hard we accidentally forget supply and demand.Citizen pay the taxes to maintain the parks. Foreigners do not. I dont see why citizens shouldn't get a deal
I am relaxed. I will not be affected in any way by any of this. I just think nationalism and economics are a bad mix.Hahaha
The world is always ending
Relax
I dont think highly subsidized markets ever concerned itself with supply and demandThis isn’t one of the cases where I’m opposing Trump on moral grounds. I just hope we don’t go rah, rah Americans so hard we accidentally forget supply and demand.
But an intelligent federal government should consider that greatly. I have not seen a body of work that suggests this particular administration shares in that zeal, particularly when it comes to foreigners.I dont think highly subsidized markets ever concerned itself with supply and demand
This particular administration has an extreme left wing economic ideologyBut an intelligent federal government should consider that greatly. I have not seen a body of work that suggests this particular administration shares in that zeal, particularly when it comes to foreigners.
Honestly one of the worst things about this Trump term is the realization of how many people don’t even know when they’re being steered into an ideology they claim to be fundamentally opposed to. There are actual human beings out there in the wild simultaneously cheering on their goods being taxed more, the President warning companies not to raise prices and Trump wanting the government to have a stake in a private Steel company while warning about Mamdani doing rent control. This particular administration has an extreme left wing economic ideology
Correct.I dont think highly subsidized markets ever concerned itself with supply and demand
Aluminum cans, dude. The Beer is brewed here
The beef is raised here and it’s been up for years
Among other things … corn still cheap.
Not sure axios is being truthful in those stats
Bush light was as cheap as I’ve ever seen it the other day. 10 for 18 pack i think
Aluminum cans for beef and sweet corn too? Crazy timesAluminum cans, dude.
Imagine for me you run a farm in the United States. If you feed your cattle with something either produced abroad or packaged with something affected by a tariff, or if you use a pesticide impacted by a tariff when you grow your corn, or have any other number of operational expenses that might be impacted by a tariff, do you think that might increase the cost of your homegrown product? Would you let your margins erode or pass that along in the cost of the beef or corn?Aluminum cans for beef and sweet corn too? Crazy times
It’s not crazy. Farmers import a lot used for feed and machinery. Something like 90% of potash is imported from Canada for example.Aluminum cans for beef and sweet corn too? Crazy times
I remember the days when 150 countries were begging us to make a deal.
Perhaps we shouldn’t be letting the President enact new taxes on us when he isn’t even negotiating with the countries he’s using emergency powers to negotiate new trade deals with. Just a thought.
Farmers do not set the price for their cornIt’s not crazy. Farmers import a lot used for feed and machinery. Something like 90% of potash is imported from Canada for example.
