MLB Network had the game as their Friday Night Showcase. Below is their call from Matt Vasgersian and Tom Verducci. Take a look at the face of Yankees coach Brad Ausmus after deciding to not challenge the play

That's why Acuna isn't moving to DH anytime soon. Yes, he needs to be there 1 day a week next season but with that arm he's gonna be in RF

Gameball Acuna …. Cuz that throw.
Strider gets a Gameball too. He looked very damn good. And Ozzie maybe will get scorching hot- he gets one too.

Man, if he could cut down on the walks.
Well you know why.

He's a fckn relief pitcher. That's all he was in college and was very effective. I don't understand why they are trying to convert him into a starter.

I'm afraid we are gonna see fools gold the next week and the team will be hot and not sell. Ozzie and Harris are the 2 that would be the only reason we could turn it around. I'm sure the guys don't wanna sell and may of had a meeting saying this is it if we don't turn it around. I thought we'd come out of the break cold and our usual selves but the team played with energy and looked ready so we'll see. I'd almost rather hold onto Murphy and just try to sign Bichette in the offseason.

There is not enough pitching and not enough games left to realistically get back in this. Too many teams to pass. Every loss is assured to lose ground on someone. The team will have to play over a .700 win percentage to get to 89 wins.

There should be no questions what this team needs to do regardless if they sweep a bad yankee (right now) team.

I would prefer to move Murphy this offseason. And go hard after Tuckerand have a DH by rotation with every player getting days off.

Like Cheff has said several times, this should be the offseason to spend big with us resetting the tax and the CBA looming. Tucker and Cease would be the perfect offseason. The rotation needs another big pitcher in it with Sale being a coin flip and him gonna be a year older and Strider already having 2 elbow surgeries. I agree that Murphy will have more suitors this offseason and it'd probably be best to wait till then bc the Braves aren't gonna concede and trade him this deadline.

I don't believe statcast has the play from last night yet. But on the year Acuna is 5th in arm velocity among OFers at 95.8 mph and tied with Oneil Cruz with the best max throw at 104.9 mph

The optimal move essentially relies on how much money AA has to spend.

Little money: Murphy/Baldwin at DH with a 3rd catcher.

Medium money: trade Murphy for a SS, sign Tucker to rotate through DH.

Huge money: keep Murphy, sign Tucker and Bichette.

I believe he's gonna have quite a bit and probably closer to 100 million. I think the trade deadline with Murphy is gonna tell us something bc if he keeps Murphy then he probably has the money in the offseason to do everything he needs while keeping him.
